The slowdown in the Permian production growth is likely to be just temporary, and the U.S. shale boom is unlikely to end soon, the new U.S. Secretary of Energy, Dan Brouillette, told Bloomberg in an interview on Tuesday.

U.S. oil production will continue to grow, despite the slowdown which is already evident across the shale patch, Brouillette said.

We have 200 years of natural gas in Pennsylvania alone.

It is not ending

It is my fervent hope that is the outcome. Ever since the 70s I've been waiting for payback for the bastards. Their problem isn't the cost of producing their oil. IIRC, they can go a low as around $5/bbl and cover their costs. They have to have lots of money because they've created an even bigger welfare state than we have. If they shut off the money to the masses, hello revolution, with the beheadings that go along with them.

Energy Secretary Brouillette is one mean and heartless dude. He should be forced to resign. Because he surely must know that this news is going to upset Greta Thunberg.

A hundred years ago, the US government put aside a large area known as the Green River formation. It’s under the Rockies, and estimates are it contains several trillion barrels of oil, locked into shale. That is more oil in that single location than has ever been pulled out in history - in all of the world.

Unless the greenies get in. The young students today are so indoctrinated they believe the world is going to end. I dread when they become old enough to vote.

The saudis and liberals of the global warming religion are working together to destroy our energy resources. Colorado voters voted down strict controls on the oil industry but our governor Pollis promised to fix the roads and schools but did neither but put the strictest regulations on energy trying to strangle them to death and stop income to conservative counties.

The liquid part of the world’s petroleum which is easily extracted is the proverbial tip of the iceberg. Oil bound up in sediment is the vast majority of all oil. This has been known since the late nineteenth century.

It is a testament to just how long the left has been attempting to skew education that we reached a point where so many people were unaware of that.

World supply is high enough right now that short-term prices are not high enough to generate a return on investment on drilling so drilling will slow until prices turn upward. The first 6-12 months of production need to pay for the well since production drops off fast - the profit comes from the continued slow production in the following few years.

The Permian Basin is in layers. Which means that the same rig can stay on the same platform and peel the shale like an onion. The same water and drilling fluid can be pumped out and re-used. There is only one road that needs to be built.

These are economies of scale for producing the cleanest (no sulfur, no mercury) sweetest crude on the planet.
