The fate of the country rests upon the outcome of the Barr/ Durham investigations

It is no exaggeration to say that the fate of the country depends on the outcome of the investigations being conducted by AG Bill Barr and US Attorney John Durham. There have galactically atrocious and egregious abuses of power by the US intelligence services against a nominee, candidate, President-elect and President of the United States. People have been framed. Lines were crossed, in particular by the then Director of the FBI.

Comey lied to the President-elect three times, telling him he wasn't the target of an investigation.

Comey bragged about how he took advantage of the "chaos" during the transition and in disregard for proper channels sent two agents to interrogate Michael Flynn, who at first would be exonerated and then later framed.

Comey's FBI never took any notes in meetings with hillary clinton or her campaign. Comey and his agents always took notes when meeting with the President-elect and his campaign. The President-elect never got a defensive briefing- he got an interrogation by the senior agent in the Counter Intelligence investigation opened on the President-elect.

The intelligence briefing the FBI gave to Donald Trump’s team during the 2016 campaign was a “pretext” to gather evidence on the candidate and his foreign policy adviser to help in their counterintelligence investigation, according to the Justice Department watchdog.

The FBI never briefed Trump’s campaign about its fear that Russians might be attempting to infiltrate his campaign, but Inspector General Michael Horowitz, who testified Wednesday about his report on the Russia investigation, said the bureau used an intelligence briefing ostensibly about guarding against foreign interference to gather evidence against Trump and retired Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s campaign got an identical briefing, Horowitz said, but hers was not used by the FBI to collect information on the candidate or her team. Clinton's campaign was not the subject of a counterintelligence investigation.

“It was a strategic counterintelligence briefing. I mention that because it precisely wasn't a defensive briefing. It was an intelligence briefing,” Horowitz told lawmakers on the Senate Judiciary Committee. “They were treated differently in that the agent wrote it up to the file and put the information in the file. The briefings were identical, but one was for investigative purposes, and one was purely for the intelligence briefing.”

Horowitz said the goal of a counterintelligence investigation “is to identify potential threats to the nation” and criticized the FBI’s decision to use a defensive briefing in this way.

“They sent a supervisory agent to the briefing from the Crossfire Hurricane team, and that agent prepared a report to the file of the briefing. About what Mr. Trump and Mr. Flynn said,” Horowitz testified, referring to the code name for the FBI's counterintelligence investigation. “The incident, the event, the meeting was a briefing, and the FBI considered and decided to send that agent there to do the briefing. So the agent was actually doing the briefing but also using it for the purpose of investigation.”

The same agent interviewed Michael Flynn. The FBI would then go on to lie about it.
“Did they ever try to protect Donald Trump from foreign influence?” Graham asked.

“They did not brief him,” Horowitz said.

“As a matter of fact, whenever they went in and gave him a vanilla briefing–‘the Russians are out there, you better beware,’–didn’t they have an FBI agent do a 302 on the defensive briefing itself?” Graham asked.

“They sent one of the supervisory agents from the Crossfire Hurricane team to the briefing and that agent prepared a report to the file of the briefing,” Horowitz said.

17 significant wrongs were found in the FISA applications, all of which went against the President-elect. IG Horowitz said he would not have submitted such a thing.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), the committee chair, asked Horowitz if he, as a lawyer, would have submitted the FISA renewal applications the FBI submitted in January, April and June 2017, which did not reflect current information available to the FBI.

"Let me put it this way, I would not have submitted the one they put in," Horowitz said. "No doubt about it. It had no business going in."

James Comey and FBI lawyer James Baker refused to have their security clearances reinstated so they would not have answer questions from Michael Horowitz and his team.Despite that, Comey has been prancing around claiming vindication but...
Graham: Comey says he's vindicated by your report. True?

Horowitz: "The activities we found don't vindicate anyone who touched this."

Robert Ray has expressed astonishment that the FBI could have an open investigation into the a Presidential candidate and eventual President-elect without the knowledge of the Attorney General. Four people- count 'em, FOUR- were spied on by the FBI.
Former Whitewater Independent Counsel Robert Ray said he was "aghast to learn how little involved the [Obama administration] attorney general and the deputy attorney general of the United States" were in the FBI investigation into President Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.

Ray said that is the most stunning revelation from the Justice Department Inspector General's review of FBI conduct at the height of the 2016 presidential campaign.

"I think Michael Horowitz was surprised to learn," said Ray on Fox Nation's "Deep Dive" on Tuesday, "and I cannot believe that there is an investigation that would take you inside a presidential campaign and four people who were targeted within that campaign and that doesn't require some kind of supervisory review and initiation beyond simply the inner-reaches of the FBI."

The IG report examined the process by which the Obama administration's FBI launched investigations into four

Trump associates.  The FBI targets included former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos, former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

An FBI lawyer- Kevin Clinesmith- altered a document denying Carter Page was a CIA/FBI source, but the FBI had been setting up Page for a fall long before that.

you can bank on the dems demanding both be thrown out of their positions and investigated- many of the dems are scum who can only hope to win by brute force- fortunately they are failing miserably so far-

That was by design. Obama made his basic wishes known and let the underlings take it from there, so he could maintain deniability.

The future of the country depends on Bill Barr and John Durham and that is no exaggeration.

100% true.

My wife and I have been praying for the President every day, but these days with special zeal. He needs our prayers.

According to Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch, Durham has sent zero Target Letters, and convened no Grand Juries (so far). I hope to God that he is doing something.

He documented many violations and illegal acts. His interpretations of what was going on were clearly designed to be as favorable as a possible to the FBI. The facts he documented are extremely important nevertheless.

I am not at all optimistic that anyone will be held to account. Doing so would require sweeping indictments and trials of legions of Swamp creatures. I do not see a “dragnet” like that happening. It would be too politically explosive and expose the corrupt under belly of DC and they simply won’t allow that to happen.

DC never punishes DC. It covers up, distracts, and excuses. And they spend our tax dollars protecting themselves.

We live in a kleptocracy.

I can’t disagree.

It’s the same with the impending “trial” in the Senate. The Senators will not allow any witnesses to be called, and no evidence introduced. They cannot afford to have their own corruption exposed.

Agree. It was a strange and disjointed report in which the facts were largely downplayed, excused and/or contradicted in the executive summary. Just the kind of evasive thing you would expect out of DC. Which is exactly why Trump was elected.

People thing IG’s are watch dogs. They are not. They are guard dogs who are there to protect and defend their agencies.

Agree. Either the FBI and much of the NSA and their current staff need to be fired or relocated to Fairbanks Alaska.

The FBI can not be trusted and must be changed. Barr is trying but there is only so much culture a boss can change without drastic changes and rebuilding from scratch.

Everyone in DC is worried about what others know that could hurt them. Nobody wants to pull the thread out of fear that it will unravel the garment THEY are wearing.

Even the lowest level people see and know things that can derail the careers of their superiors, so everyone treads lightly.

And therefore, this will disappear with time. Way too many skeletons. Way too many careers. Oh well.... Maybe next time.

Not seeing any evidence of this. The Democrat/Media complex is moving forward with their impeachment BS, and other than the tiny group of Republicans (like Nunes and Jordan) that have been fighting the good fight over the past 3+ years, the rest of the GOP has been mostly mute or Never Trump-ian. I'm still waiting for a comment from the RNC regarding the IG report - maybe they'll get to that before the end of the year (not likely). Articles like this one posted at sites like Flopping Aces aren't going to get the job done since the audience is tiny. Those in this country that believe in the rule of law, the Constitution, and freedom have a right to be very concerned at this point.
