In the spirit of preserving the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms, this guide covers all available firearms' 80% lowers, frame blanks, and receiver blanks that can be legally purchased and built at home with basic hand tools. The following platforms are included: AR-15, LR-308 (DPMS AR-10), AR-9, the Glock-compatible polymer pistol platform, and the 1911 platform.
New to this? Learn what an 80% lower is first. This guide compares all available receiver blanks and 80% frames that you can currently buy and build. All AR receivers in this guide feature mil-spec fittings (a buffer tube diameter of 1.14" OD).
Just out of academic curiosity mind you...
Welcome to Free Republic
I recently built 2 ar15 from 80% lowers and complete kits, the Polymer was real easy and didn’t take long at all and it works perfect, now the aluminum one was a little tougher to do, but with a drill press, an XY vise and the Milling Bit from the polymer kit, and the Drill Press jig, it only took a couple hours.
Both work perfectly

I did not see any 1911 receiver blanks. Are they for sell?
I ask because the California high shooter was supposed to have built a 1911 from blanks, all ordered online, at least that is what the Sheriff said?

IF there were 80% M1911 receivers commonly available, I believe that at least ONE of the members of gunhub.com and/or texasguntalk.com would have found the vendor.
To my personal knowledge, there are NONE currently available for sale.
