Immigrants afraid of Trump’s ‘public charge’ rule are dropping food stamps, MediCal
Cal Matters ^ | September 22, 2019 | Erica Hellerstein

Last month, Yuri sat in her dining room in San Jose, turned on the T.V., and heard something that made her sit up straight and sent her mind racing.

The Trump administration, the newscaster announced, had just published a new rule that could make it harder for immigrants to get a green card if they used, or were likely to use, public government benefits like food stamps or Medicaid.

Yuri, who came to the United States from Michoacán, Mexico, was enrolled in CalFresh, California’s food stamp program, for her 7 children, who range in age from just over a month to 15 and who all were born in this country. But with the new rule, Yuri, wondered, would staying on food stamps imperil her asylum application or get her deported? Would she and her family have to move back to Michoacán, one of the Mexican states with the worst cartel violence?

She decided to terminate food stamps for her kids and to dis-enroll herself from MediCal, despite some health complications she said accompanied her latest pregnancy. She worries, she said, about how she will keep her children’s bellies full without food stamps. But she doesn’t want the use of social service programs to put her at risk for deportation somehow.

Best burrito I’ve ever eaten, and I’ve eaten more than my fair share, came from a guy operating one of those push carts in Nashville, TN.
For two days I ate his burritos three times a day while my truck was in the shop.

Remittances to Mexico should be taxed to pay for these parasites.

No, it should be used to deport these parasites and build the wall.

There is no amount of taxes or money that justifies these law breakers to remain in our country.

She has been able to afford to have 7 children,

She is not affording them, we are subsidizing her having them through the welfare system.

Just like some other non-white race that sucks at the tit of America.

Both of these minorities know how to scam the system.

“In 2018 asylum was granted to a little more than 26,000 families and individuals”

Rounding up, thats 2.75 years.
A legitimate asylum seeking individual would have started the process on day one. Her case should have been resolved 12.25 years ago.
Shes just another wetback leech.

“Just how many legitimate asylum seekers are there in the United States?”

Legitimate cases?
The dems and cheap labor pubbies haven’t allowed any for decades.

B.S. invader cases?
The answer would probably make both of us go postal.

It’s not “Trump’s rule”.

It’s the People’s laws, passed by Congresses, signed by Presidents.

Trump’s JOB is to take care that the People’s laws be faithfully executed. Only in clown world is that controversial.

And please note: I did not say “In Democrat, or ‘Demonrat’, or some other stupid name” clown world, because in subverting the People’s laws on immigration, the GOP is just as bad.

i know FR is “all babies, all the time”, but this whatever you want to call her should NOT have had 7 babies that she cannot afford to feed.
If she’s getting govvie handouts she should be on birth control.

The behavior we subsidize will be increased.

The behavior we punish will be reduced.

These are fundamental truths.

“They’re just not doing it because they are scared,” she said. “They say, ‘We would rather struggle than put our name into the system.’ It’s getting bad.”

No! It’s getting GOOD! Thank you, President Trump!

Seven friggin’ kids, all born in the U.S., supported by the U.S. taxpayer, and no mention of their father(s).

This woman is the poster child for why we need a wall, an aggressive deportation program, and why we need to shut down these phony asylum scams.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

So with all 7 kids under 15, how much is she getting for welfare & housing?

Article didn't’ say she was giving that up???

I met a Mississippi Deputy Sheriff 20 years ago. He looked like he’d just arrived from Guatamala, but spoke perfect English with a drawl!

Where are the babies-daddys that should be contributing to their kids’ food and well being? Seven kids in 15 years...

Immigrants should be expected to pay their own ways and that of their offspring at a minimum.

When you have seven children, they will burn through about $1 million in K-12 public schooling costs.

All 7 of her kids born here, oldest is 15. So she came here illegally, had 7 anchor babies, and we’re paying for their food and healthcare. I’m sorry, I just don’t feel sorry for her.

If a person applies for tax payer funded benefits the rule should be.....”no additional benefits will be paid for any additional children.” If you decide to have more children, then you pay for them.

Tax paying citizens limit their family sizes based on their ability to care for them. Shouldn’t freeloaders have to make the same choices.

“Of course, no mention of where is/are the father(s) of this Mexican immigrant’s seven, count ‘em seven, children”

I noticed that too.

sounds good, but if someone gets knocked up, you know the agencies are gonna give them the goods.
Norplant sounds better to me.

California’s food stamp program, for her 7 children, who range in age from just over a month to 15

Why do we allow this? All costs for Illegal Aliens should be Paid for exclusively by Public Employee’s
