News You Can’t Use: Sandwich Shaming

Number two reason for not ordering a Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato with Cheese:

Robert Wilson Barnes couldn't believe when he thought the letters on his wife's bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich with cheese actually read 'b***h'Sandwich Shaming

Number one reason: Cheese on a BLT? That’s just wrong.

I’m only surprised that it ran in the Daily Mail instead of the New York Times – the newspaper of record that specializes in abused women stories.

NOTE: I’m pretty sure this is fake news based on a fake Facebook story but then that could be said of approximately 75% of all stories run in all newspapers.

Randolph Duke : We are 'commodities brokers,' William. Now, what are commodities? Commodities are agricultural products... like coffee that you had for breakfast... wheat, which is used to make bread... pork bellies, which is used to make bacon, which you might find in a 'bacon, lettuce and tomato' sandwich.

"Do you put mayo on beef hamburgers?"

My nephew turned me on to sour cream and onion dip on a hamburger. I watched him do this and it was an epiphany.

Most individuals have very strong opinions about mayonnaise and miracle whip. It’s like Apple and Microsoft.
My buddy’s wife insists on diet mayo. I feel sorry for the guy. It’s not like you put half a jar of the stuff on anything! I prefer the taste of MW. YMMV

“I think a nice slice of Havarti would be good on a BLT. Each to his own I say. Don’t like it, don’t do it...”

My wife probably could have been a chef if she hadn’t decided to be a great RN.

Recently, we had some of her younger relatives and their daughters visiting. They live in Africa and a lot of their favorite foods are not available.

Besides my great char coaling skills and my wife’s prepping skills re good salads and sides, they wanted BLT’s made with pepper bacon, with their favorite slice of cheese, with some fresh lettuce and local tomatoes. Also, they wanted a side of my grilled okra.

While they were ODing on the above. I made them Ice Cream floats with AW root beer and a good local ice cream for dessert. We got some tears of memories and delight on the above.

Zero leftovers and the plates didn’t have a crumb left on them.

Most of the "cheese" sold by the fast outlets isn't quite cheese, despite the fact it is sold as REALtm cheese.

We try to have a lot of basic Cali foods when we have visitors.

This family is from the mid west and misses AW and the local food.

We had them first and did our usual and then the midwest thing.

Later they had a big family reunion back in the Midwest, and my wife suggested that they do a picnic with AW goodies and some local items. That happened. Everyone ODed and enjoyed it with zero prep and the cleanup was the paper wrappings going into the combustible garbage can.

Well, I only use Miracle Whip, as I hate mayo. Put them in the same category, though.

My kind of sandwich.....10 years ago.
Now I get heartburn just reading those ingredients.
Sigh. Getting old is hell.

“Cheese is acceptable. Mayonnaise on a BLT is is not.”

For me, mayo never is acceptable. Ditto for sour cream.
