…It is unknown whether the tomb ever really kept Jesus ‘ body

If it did, it was not for very long

Rock age is virtually irrelevant.

Luke 23:50-54 Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, 51 who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea, and he himself was waiting for the kingdom of God. 52 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body. 53 Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. 54 It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.

Joseph's "new tomb" could have just been cut out of the rock, or he might have just bought it from someone else, who also hadn't used it. We don't know!

“The limestone bed dates back to nearly 300 years after Jesus‘ death.”

That’s some young limestone.

The earliest Christians were busy spreading the Gospel and establishing communities. Setting up shrines and monuments commemorating the places where Jesus had been was probably not a priority.

A few generations later, a historical consciousness set in, and they wanted to memorialize the places where Jesus had lived, suffered, and died. But by then the identity of those actual places was probably somewhat muddled, which is why more than one location is sometimes claimed to be the site of various events in the life of Jesus.

The grounds for the American Consulate in Jerusalem has Lott’s tomb and it is violated by housing another agencies personnel and equipment. When I inquired as to how this is possible given the Bible I was told biblical beliefs were of no consideration since they are not valid. Liberals have ZERO RESPECT for God nor others if it is an inconvenience.

The article is written very poorly. I think the point is that the tomb was last exposed 1,700 years ago, meaning the marble cladding (edicule) that was added to protect it was 1,700 years old. If the tomb were in fact only 1,700 years old, it would be impossible “the tomb ever really kept Jesus ‘ body.” But the test of its “age” is “when the quartz within the masonry was last exposed to light.” So the tomb is AT LEAST 1,700 years old.

It is the resurrection not the Tomb that is important. G-d knows which Tomb it was/is and G-d knows it should not matter to us. Don’t bother yourselves about it.
