The Houthi rebels of Yemen have launched numerous attacks using drones and even missiles on Saudi Arabia in the months leading up to Saturday morning's attack on two Saudi oil installations.
The attacks coming from a southerly direction where the Iranian backed rebels have been fighting a Saudi military coalition backed by the United States and United Kingdom in a brutal war widely condemned with the United Nations recently saying that all sides in the conflict and those nations behind them may be guilty of war crimes.
Now the United States says that based on:
"data"
and
"satellite images"
Iran is responsible with some speculation that the attack came from a north or northwesterly direction, from Iran or even Iraq where there are groups operating sympathetic to Iran.
Iran claims a campaign of:
"lies"
and
"deceit"
against it by the United States.
Iran clearly has responsibility based on its involvement with the Houthis but Washington isn't talking along those lines.
Is this just a new type of Steele Dossier or a serious look at real and meaningful evidence?
Its really hard to trust what the intelligence community puts out as truth in this day and age based on recent experience.
But I will note that Iran has been pushed by economic sanctions tantamount to those employed against Japan that led to the attack on Pearl Harbor. No one here to excuse Japan and no one here to excuse Iran but to pretend that any attack from Japan in 1941 was "unprovoked" or that Iran does not have any cause to respond to the harsh sanctions imposed in recent years is delusional.
Lets hope this attack on the "land of the Al Qaeda movement" not to be confused with the organization of the same name declared a US enemy is the worst that Iran will do in response to what is being done to it.
The United States support of Al Qaeda and its sympathizers in Syria and other places by the likes of Lindsey Graham and the late John McCain has been a disgrace and even now Senator Graham pushed for military attacks on Iran that will only escalate the situation.
We weren’t provoking Japan into attacking us, we were provoking them to quell their lust for empire. That they responded instead by bombing us speaks more about them and their intentions than it does about our “provocations”. They were bombing other nations anyway, and just got to us sooner, rather than later.
Indeed they were but what has Iran done comparable to what was done to China in the 1930’s?
What have we learned recently that was kept from us for almost two decades? That the CIA not only knew WHO Atta was they knew WHERE he was and WHAT he was doing (learning to fly a multi engine commercial jet at a flight school in the US). They were watching him but they lost track of him just as he and his friends hijacked an aircraft.
The same Intelligence agencies that attempted a coup against our president. IMHO we have damned good reasons to never trust the FBI or CIA again.
man o man wastoute,
YOu are one of what,
three non socialist in Virginia these days?
You are ohh so correct in not having confidence in our FBI< CIA, but add in there the IRS.
(Hint: almost anyone)
NOVA is lost. Where I live we are in what could seriously be called an occupied state as we are governed by outsiders. Seriously. I live in a recently gerrymandered district and am represented by a Rat for the first time in my life.
“IMHO we have damned good reasons to never trust the FBI or CIA again.”
Given that, the US has to make its decisions regarding Iran without trusting the CIA or the FBI. That’s unfortunate, but we’ve been making successful foreign policy decisions long before either organization existed. Without them we’re not blind, certainly not to Iran’s intentions.
I don’t trust the government at all. I do however trust Trump.
How can it be wrong - 17 US Intelligence all said that Iran attacked.
LOL.
“Given that, the US has to make its decisions regarding Iran without trusting the CIA or the FBI. Thats unfortunate, but weve been making successful foreign policy decisions long before either organization existed. Without them were not blind, certainly not to Irans intentions.”
And we did make the right calls AFTER those decrepid agencies were formed - such as Reagan taking on the Soviet, something that NO ONE in the Deep State thought could work.
I guess they’re still be ok to have around for other stuff, but they really need to stay out of policy decisions - that’s not why they exist, and they suck at it.
Is it part of the Deep State? If it is, the answer is NO.
THIS is what happens when you lie.
Gee, if Iran doesn’t have a piece of this maybe we can blame the Amish!
