I’m pretty sure I heard Barr say that they can use this information when it comes to apportionment in Congress. He said there might be a fight over it but by law they can use it for that. I hope they can anyway. From the screaming and gnashing of teeth in DU I’m pretty sure that’s what he said. :-) I’ll listen to a rerun later.

Yes, I agree. The congressional representation comes from the census. Any other data Trump collects is interesting, but will have no bearing on determining congressional representation.
It may be useful in winning internet arguments, but not useful for much else.

Seems that they “have it all”.
But the SCOTUS just ruled that gerrymandering is left to the states and the political parties theein.
They said nothing about using JUST the census data.
Trump should announce that all census takers will wear ICE jackets.
Let’s see if the Left relents on the citizenship question then.
