I would make a real gold pistol like in the movie "Golden Gun". With real gold bullets.

Gold would make a great replacement for aluminum siding, so it would always have some value.

Does the Author of this piece understand the basic Economic concept of Supply and Demand?
Rarity is expensive, an overabundance of anything is cheap.

True.
But I could finally have my protective tinfoil hat replaced with a shiny gold one.
Then lets see those outer space aliens from outer space try to get inside my head!

“...takes the gold from actual miners...”
Maybe in another 500 years if we have a space colony around Jupiter or on Mars it MIGHT be feasible to mine this rock to supply the raw materials to building it.
The cost to get to the rock, mine it, and return back to earth (with a limited load) would be cost prohibitive. Perhaps could attach rockets to the rock and send it to earth?

There was a time Aluminium was considered precious, they they were able to industrialize its production... It wasn't just valuable enough to be considered a precious metal, it was priced at twice as much as gold.
