Trump on Track to Flip the Ninth Circuit to Republican by 2020

With the confirmation of Kenneth Kiyul Lee to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals yesterday, President Trump is on track to flip the notoriously liberal court to Republican by 2020.

According to National Review's Ed Whelan, Lee will be filling a seat that was held for decades by "arch-activist Stephen Reinhardt."

And there's nothing but good news for Republicans on the horizon, Whelan says:

Up soon for a floor vote—next week, I hope—should be Ninth Circuit nominee Daniel P. Collins. [Update (3 p.m.): Cloture has been filed on the Collins nomination, so it should be voted on next week.] Collins would fill the seat long held by Harry Pregerson, the Ninth Circuit judge with the strongest claim to rival Reinhardt in lawless willfulness. The appointments of Lee and Collins would give the Ninth Circuit 11 Republican appointees versus 16 Democratic appointees, with two remaining vacancies. At the start of the Trump administration, the Ninth Circuit had 19 Democratic appointees, only 6 Republican appointees, and four vacancies.

I just hope he can flip it ‘constitutional’

(”Republican” isn’t saying a whole lot sometimes)

We do indeed have two dubious SCOTUS justices in Roberts and Kavanaugh.

Still wondering how Kavanaugh qualified for that list of vetted conservative judges??

Yay! Even Lenin Castro hitler and Mussolini would be a fairer and more constitutional court than the 9th circus!

Kavanaugh isn’t as big of a concern as Roberts.

Somebody is holding ‘something’ over that man’s head

IMHO

The article said the 11th Circuit was +2 Rat. Its actually split evenly.

As for the 9th, there is one Dubya appointee who is 85 and another who is 77. I’m assuming Trump would get the chance to replace both of them if re-elected. As for the the democratic appointees, there are two who are 74, one who is 73, one who is 72, and another who is currently 70. Whether they like it or not, some of those seats are going to come vacant in the next 6 years.

The other Circuit Court to flip is the 4th. It is currently +1 democrat because Obama got to appoint 6 judges. The hopeful news there is that one Clinton appointee is 79 while another is 76. Hopefully Trump will get to replace both of these in the next 6 years and flip the 4th back after Obama was able to flip it democrat.

Re: Flipping the Ninth Circuit

Important to remember that two of Trump’s five Ninth Circuit judges received significant Democrat support.

Mark J. Bennett - 27 Republicans voted AGAINST Bennett!

Bridget Shelton Bade - received 25 Democrat votes.

Re: Still wondering how Kavanaugh qualified for that list of vetted conservative judges?

He has voted with the Leftist Judges four times in his first 10 months.

I actually thought Kavanaugh might be pretty good until he told the Senate Judiciary Committee that RINO Swing Voter Anthony Kennedy was the Supreme Court Justice he most admired.

Flipping the 9th Circuit will definitely be a yuge feather in President Trump's cap.

Off topic: I find it interesting that my Firefox browser still doesn't suggest 'Trump' when I type the word, President. Neither do my Android devices.

I’m just thankful to Trump for at least stopping the 9th circus from being the left’s go-to court when they want a reliable means of thwarting him. Do people fully understand how seemingly impossible this seemed only a few years ago?

“Still wondering how Kavanaugh qualified for that list of vetted conservative judges??”

Here is the thing about Kavanaugh. He is a constitutionalist, same as the other justices on the court. Right now he is feeling his way around SCOTUS and will look at the law and not the ideology part. That will come later when the court takes up major cases.

Kavanaugh’s vote with the libs on the court last week was a throwaway and Kavanaugh looked at the law. Give him time, this will all change.

We don’t care if they are Republican, as long as they are Constitutionalists.

He was supposed to be the easiest to confirm I suspect is what Trump was told and be “conservative”. I never thought he was a lock conservative, more of a Roberts mush head type judge. Trump might as well consider any future SCOTUS picks to be a barroom brawl and pick the most conservative possible and be done with it. Unless Buzzin and Breyer croak in the next 6 years there will never be a guaranteed conservative voting block on the court.

Also may God bless the great Clarence Thomas (turning 71 next month) and Samuel Alito (just turned 69) with good health.

Hopefully, both will serve throughout President Trump’s second turn and allow PDJT to maybe make another appointment to replace one upon retirement (a la Kennedy/Kavanaugh).
