In an age where we are all so woke
I thought it would nice from time to time to pay respects to the mid-twentieth century movement that made all this possible: Feminism.
The feminist movement chose an internationally recognized symbol
long associated with oppression
to express their ideology and objectives. The world largely ignored this obvious affiliation with a movement that was otherwise shunned by Western countries at the time, leaving feminism to continue its march towards equality.
How did the feminist movement do in the intervening half century? I leave you to decide for yourself, based on contemporaneous facts and reports from the field. For the first installment in what is sure to become a recurring feature I offer the following for consideration:
In the 70's feminists told women they could be anything they wanted to be. Eventually men demanded the same rights and what some of them wanted was to be women.
Transgender woman Rachel McKinnon, center as if I have to explain, celebrates her first-place finish at UCI Masters Track Cycling World Championship in Los Angeles
Another historic achievement for equality. Congratulations, youve come a long way, baby!

It’s interesting to think about, whether “feminism” and the women’s movement, have been good for society overall.
Hoist on their own petards.
I think it’s odd, how the feminists have always said that women should have choices in their lives, be free to be in careers, etc. , and not be relegated to a housewife/mother role.
But then those same feminists have derision for women, who freely choose to be primarily wives and mothers, and who don’t pursue the high powered professional career.
If the issue is women having choices, which they do today, then why would feminists have resentment towards women who have freely chosen to be “stay at home” moms?
Dear Freepers: Some guidance.
Dont use the word woke unless you have just awakened and are describing that event. The Left is screwing with your brain once again. Refuse to cooperate with them in redefining the Grest English Language.
You’ve come a long way baby. I remember that as an ad slogan from Virginia Slims cigarettes. I recall their commercials, back when cigarette ads were still allowed on TV.
All I can say about real women and feminism is I like when they wiggle and a walk and a giggle.....

Lewis wrote Chantilly Lace or covered it?
The Big Bopper made it a hit.
Memories........
Wow. She had huge feet.
Pity you can’t compare them to “Rachel” Mckinnon’s.
(From the given photos)
And, balls, apparently.
I looked up the lyrics but not who made it no 1 : )
I just remember the wiggle and a giggle part.
That’s OK.
Just didn’t remember Jerry Lee Lewis having any part in making it a hit. Big Bopper had the hit and his career was suddenly ended when he passed soon after (plane crash)
Chantilly Lace and a pretty face, ponytail hanging down. Walked with a wiggle and talked with a giggle. Oh BABY! that’s what I like!
It's the same mindset as those who say they are "pro choice" in the abortion battle.
They simply DO NOT recognize choosing to have a baby as a choice. Which is odd because, if you call them "pro abortion" (which is what they are) they go ballistic.
You’ve come a long way... the wrong direction.
Have females register for the draft at 18 like young men. When the big war comes (and it will) they should be ready for drafting to serve—even if its not in combat the military have many jobs to be done besides shooting a gun—clothes to wash, food to cook, reports to write, things to clean, computers to operate, drones to fly. Trucks to drive etc...
If we need them—they will be ready to be inducted.
