JOE MONTANA Named in Admissions Scandal.

Posted on 03/14/2019 8:05:01 PM PDT by DIRTYSECRET

Saw it on Yahoo. Of course he denies getting special privileges for his daughter's admission. As I see it he's done so much for the university sports-wise his kids should be given Carte Blanche treatment. My only problem with Joe is that he didn't have to apply and receive Workmen's Comp for football injuries. He was a millionaire many times over at the time.

Perhaps what should be looked at is accreditation if unqualified students are handed degrees they're not capable of. (I don't know if they have been or not)

Are you referring to USC which is a private university.

Singer probably had a bread and butter business known to help kids a learning center to improve testing scores, consulting, private counseling for wealthy.

Then the greed got to him and it morphed into this side door business.

True but Joe only tied Bradshaw with his four wins. That said he never unexpectedly exposed his backside to me like Bradshaw did when I was innocently watching Failure to Launch so I put Joe over Terry for that. Still trying to shake that image out of my head. What has been seen cannot be unseen!

I’ll actually give a shit about this when they start to implicate some politicians, most of whom are among the sleaziest beings in existence, but I have yet to even hear of a hint that any politician has been implicated.

By the way, I assume it’s OK to lie about being a member of a protected class to get into Harvard Law School, but paying for someone to fudge SAT results or lie about an applicant’s sports prowess is not...

Final thought: From what is our attention being diverted to focus on a college entrance scandal?

That was her stage name, she’s Billy Ray Cyrus’ daughter- the one of “Achy Breaky Heart” fame. Her real name is Miley Cyrus.

Apparently Montana doesn’t do anything without a fee.

NO ONE should be given admission to a school if it's robbing a more deserving STUDENT...

Totally agree and great post overall.

While mostly unrelated to this scandal, I hate the way that athletics have essentially taken over colleges and universities. It's a farce to see barely literal people not only admitted to the best schools but heavily recruited and pampered as well. Just so they can throw a ball around for the school team. Meanwhile, those students who take academics seriously are pushed off to the side.

I have nothing against sports but it seems that our college system is more occupied with being a "farm team" for the professional leagues than turning out educated people who by realizing their full potential, can change the world and make it a better place.

Of course, it's a pipe dream to expect anything to change. These college sports bring MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars into the schools. It's at the point now where a college football coach earns more money than the entire faculty at the science or engineering departments.

Looks like a mix of public/private. the University of Texas, the University of Southern California, the University of California at Los Angeles, the University of San Diego, Stanford University, Wake Forest University, Yale University and Georgetown University.

I think there should be room for a few legacy admissions, just a few. Look at how many athletic scholarships are awarded to the undeserving.

Yes and those publics have well regarded names and are hard to gain admission.

Next you're going to tell me that Archie Bunker was not a real person.

You’re right. Joe desperately wanted to turn both son into star quarterbacks and was constantly moving them from high school to high school to high school, and then, later, from college to college to college. Neither of ‘em were ever anywhere near NFL-level players. It was kind of sad, as they both kept doggedly pursuing their old man’s career path. As the saying goes, there are no second acts.

Tell that to Howie Long’s kids. Both were in the NFC Championship game last yer on opposing teams.
