Hollywood celebrities are constantly lecturing the rest of America on how to live, what to eat and who to vote for. They're better than you and me. But now and then things go wrong.
Like yesterday:
They cheated. They cheated the system, they cheated their kids and they cheated the kids who should have been granted acceptance into those schools. This doesn't happen every day: Hollywood stars Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin and Loughlin's fashion designer husband, Mossimo Giannulli, were arrested Tuesday and charged with paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes to cheat their daughters into college.
The three were charged along with nearly 50 other people in a scheme in which wealthy parents allegedly bribed college coaches and insiders at college testing centers to help get their children into some of the most elite schools in the country, federal prosecutors said at a dramatic news conference in Boston.
Huffman was arrested Tuesday in Los Angeles, and by dinner was released on $250,000 bail. Loughlin was not yet in custody but was expected to make a court appearance on Wednesday afternoon, said Thom Mrozek, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office Central District in Los Angeles.
A spokeswoman for Huffman, Elizabeth Much, told USA TODAY on Tuesday she had "no information to share at this time."
In the case of Huffman, she made a $15,000 "donation" which happened to boost her daughter's SAT scores by 400 points.
Loughlin and her husband made "donations" totaling $500,000 to sneak their daughters into USC.
The worst of it is that the younger Loughlin daughter didn't give a damn about going to college.Investigators say in the affidavit that in July 2016, the couple "agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC (University of Southern California) crew team, despite the fact they did not participate in crew, thereby facilitating their admission to USC."
CW-1 advised Giannulli in a July 2016 email that his older daughter's academic qualifications were at or just below the "low end" of USC's admission standards. "Thereafter, the Giannullis agreed with CW-1 to use bribes to facilitate her admission to USC as a recruited crew coxswain, even though she did not row competitively or otherwise participate in crew," the affidavit says.

How is this a federal crime that involves the FBI?
Read what the daughter said online.
Like, she, like, really OMG SOOOO doesn’t want to go to class!!! Like, OMG, she could be chilling with her BFF instead!!
SMH
Tax fraud, maybe? They claimed the “charitable donations” as deductions on their taxes (as per the news stories).
Why not post it right here?

I don’t know but I do know there are many other very serious crimes and threats to our country that the FBI should be focusing its resources on rather than stuff like this.
Why not click on the link?

Oh like totally. I get it, dude...ette.
The IRS seems to have been cheated here too.
Could be mail fraud too.
Could be mail fraud too.

Could be but I’m more concerned about things like rampant cyber crimes and espionage against our country. Those are existential threats.
If they do call, remember that the only you do or say is:”Lawyer”.
Because that's what this wanker wants me to do.
The whole thing is an advertisement to get me to click.
Nope.
True, but some might say that having our educational system perverted is an existential threat too, with a longer gestational period. It's debatable, I suppose.
With the internet, universities and their virtue-signaling admissions policies may become obsolete.
OK, that’s up to you.
It’s not that hard though. If you can learn to put down the toilet seat, you can learn to click on a link.
The guy designed his posting to get me to click.
I will not do his bidding, I’m not his effing robot.
I hope he falls into a hole.
So... because you won’t click on a link, no one should click on a link?
I think you’re a liberal.
Our educational system has already been perverted. This latest scandal is just more evidence of the rot.
Our schools have for decades indoctrinating rather than educating our children at all levels. Costs have risen much faster than the rate of inflation. School bureaucracies have expanded way out of proportion to the size of student bodies. Teachers have become purveyors of leftist political ideology and brainwashing impressionable minds to vote and support for all things liberal.
I could on and on but the point is the perversion of our eductational system has been underway for a long time.
Where did I ever say that? Point that out.
I think youre a liberal.
And I really care what you think.
You cared enough to answer. You obviously care what I think. And you're a phony.
