Ben Buckley is a fair-dinkum Aussie character living in Benambra among the mountains which are the roof of Australia.
He is an octogenarian free spirit. A libertarian who cares deeply about the way the nanny state is making prisoners of us all.
Until very recently he was still flying his small planes around South-Eastern Australia. He loves and trusts guns and gun owners.
He has been a local government Councillor for four decades.
He has been suspended for practicing free speech in violation of the code of conduct which makes government too secretive for Ben.
Are the modern forces attacking freedom all across the western world too strong to oppose or can spirits like Ben’s prevail?

We all have to get back to the basics. The two supports our Founders believed in are religion and morality. Take them away and we can’t stand up.
All throughout history, there have been three types of people:
Those who want to step on others;
Those who want to be left alone;
And
Those who sit and watch which way the wind will blow, so they can be on the “winning” side and have the proper flag ready to fly.
Eventually, the folks who want to be left alone WILL try to enforce their rights, usually violently.
Hence the Steppers (goose-steppers, if you want) need to remove guns from private hands, and place them ONLY in the hands of those want to step on others.
So as to the first part of the question of “can we restore our freedoms” - once you let something as precious as your Rights be taken from you (and the sad reality is, you DO allow it be taken), the only way to take it back is through force. It’s the only thing the Steppers understand, because they damn well surely WILL use force to stop you and keep you “in your place”.
As for maintaining it... that takes a credible threat of force to stop the would-be Steppers from even THINKING about it; a credible threat that the disarmed no longer possess.
The Founding Fathers put the Second Amendment in place so that we would always have the Credible Threat to maintain and in the case of SHTF, restore our Rights.
When you choose to allow yourself to be disarmed - and it IS ALWAYS a choice - you no longer have the capacity to do so. And if we as a People and a Nation choose to allow it, then we deserve it.
It’s that simple.
Ben is not from the American Greatest Generation. But he was born in 1937 so he is a child of the same generational spirit as it manifested in Australia,
