I’m surprised more of this is not happening in Germany. Maybe even Sweden.

To say we live in interesting times is a Captain Obvious.

It implies the cop knew his target. That makes the attack even worse than random brutality.

There’s something fishy in this story.

Macron tried insults, that didn't make the yellow vests go away. Then he tried cracking skulls, weeks of that and still they keep coming out. Clearly he needs a new strategy. It seems he has four choices:

  1. Keep doing what he's doing until spring when the weather warms and hope that the yellow vest numbers don't swell full of people fed up with Macron's tactics.
  2. Try to scare it into submission with shock and awe. Throw even more cops out there and let them off the leash; let the blood flow openly and everywhere. Hope they scatter and never regroup. The soviet strategy.
  3. Pull back the cops and pretend it isn't happening, hope it blows over. The Clinton terrorism response strategy.
  4. Change policies in ways that make the yellow vests feel heard.

I am certain he won't do number 4 because giving the people a say is just not done. He's really painted himself into a corner with no good way out.

A few weeks ago, there was a supposed “anti Yellow-vest” group that counter-demonstrated. That lasted all but one day.

The French are not totally disarmed. They can fight back if they want and get more suitable weapons in the process.
