McConnell and the Iron Triangle vs. Trump and the Voters
American Greatness ^ | February 2nd, 2019 | Joseph Duggan

Posted on 02/03/2019 8:45:30 AM PST by Hojczyk

The struggle between Trump and the woefully large number of pre-Trump Republicans in the Senate is not really about the true constitutional separation of powers. McConnell and crew are not standing up for the rightful power of the legislative branch as the Framers intended; they are shilling for the Iron Triangle.

Freshmen senators seem to find out early how to win the good graces of the liberal media and the permanent bureaucracy. Barely four weeks into their tenure, every new GOP senator—Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.), Mike Braun (Ind.), Kevin Cramer (N.D.), Josh Hawley (Mo.), Martha McSally (Ariz.), Rick Scott (Fla.), and (of course) Romney—voted against the president and for the swamp. Meanwhile, Blackburn, Braun, Hawley, and Scott owe their come-from-behind victories solely to Trump’s unflagging support.

With Republicans like McConnell and Burr and Romney and Rubio, who needs foes like Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif.)?

Pre-Trump and anti-Trump Republican senators are gambling that they can ride out the Trump years and that things will return in 2021 to the status quo ante of George W. Bush foreign policy. They resemble the Republican Old Guard that considered Reagan a fluke and a nuisance and pined for a return to the comfort zone they had enjoyed with Jerry Ford.

These will be the questions for voters to decide next year. Would Republican Senate bosses be wise to run their negative 57 percent approval rating against Trump’s negative 13 percent approval rating? For that matter, would Republican donors be sane to contribute to anti-Trump senators in this environment? Most important of all, do Americans really want a reversion to the George W. Bush era?

McConnell et al will find out they are wrong...again...in 2020. People are fed up with the “serve myself first” attitude that prevails in DC.

Obviously, there must be way more going on behind the scenes than I can fathom.

Or, human nature is just $hit.

Trump bosted his ASS to get these senators elected. I have ne'er seen a sitting president put so much into helping his party's candidates.

So is it me ? What the heck am I missing ?

No Judges approved this week again. No excuse given.
They always seem to find a reason for delay. Meanwhile there are 148 VACANT federal judgeships with 21 additional announced to be vacant later this year.

With these 169 judgeships to be filled, the Senate POKES ALONG. 4% of THIS Congress’ 2-year term has already slipped away with INACTION BEING THEIR MAIN “ACTION”

AG Barr not voted on. Another vacation, now after promised action after shutdown.

Heather Nuerart not approved for UN, along with dozens of Ambassadors.

Mitch is doing a fine job of obstruction. No excuses its now 2 years.

Tick, Tock....Tick Tock

2020

Republicans have 22 seats on the block
Democrats have 12 seats on the block

It is likely, based on current behavior, the Republicans lose a net 10 seats.

At least.

The Republicans do nothing to motivate and inspire the Trump base to vote for them. And that’s at least 85% of the Republican party.

And then McConnell can settle back in the comfy chair as minority leader and enjoy the fruits of his part of the Uniparty without any of the stress of having to act like he is trying to win anything.

The mark of a party bought and paid for by corporate lobbyists.

The best way out for McConnell and even Romney is for President Trump to declare a national emergency and build the entire Wall - 1900 miles - before the end of the year. Remove that issue from the table, and the RINOs won’t have to interrupt their time on the cocktail circuit to make hard votes again.

IMO we keep fighting for accountability & liberty & we continue to get less & less. I’m afraid this battle is lost. When we become Venezuela is when we will recognize freedom.

Ever since Trump was elected, the battle between the established Republicans and the true “we the people” Republicans has become highly visible with Ryan and McConnell leading the pack. The problem is finding “we the people” candidates to run against the likes of McConnell is almost impossible.

2020 will be the most devastating election ever ... the end of the Republic.
