My Exciting Trip to the Liquor Store in Fascist Canada
Canada Free Press ^ | 01/21/19 | Arthur Weinreb

I could have been detained and required to provide breath samples for doing nothing more than purchasing a bottle of alcohol from a government store while perfectly sober

As I wrote in an earlier article, new laws concerning drinking and driving came into effect in Canada on Dec. 18. As well as increased penalties, cops no longer have to have a “reasonable suspicion” that a driver has been drinking before demanding that driver provide suitable breath samples. As well, a police officer can demand someone provide breath samples if that person has driven anytime within the previous two hours. If the demand is made to a person drinking at home or in a bar and that person blows over the legal limit, he or she can be charged. It is up to them to prove that they were not impaired when they last drove.

Canada has no Fourth Amendment.
They can do whatever the majority approves of.

Innocent until proven guilty. What a quaint old fashioned notion for our modern age! /s

Has anyone here ever seen a show called Corner Gas. It's a Canadian knockoff of Seinfeld and the Most Popular Show in Canada for many years. It's very Canadian and I will say this, after watching a few episodes I don't think they have the sense to come in out of the rain.

Canuck here. These days I prefer the phrase “honest citizen” to “law-abiding citizen”, since the “law” is built on shifting sand and a person’s fate could be determined less by legal principle and more and more by some cop’s, judge’s or bureaucrat’s personal demons. When this country finally falls apart of its own contradictions I’m going to haul out a lawn chair and a cooler of beer and watch the world burn.

Another example of why Canada is 1/10 the force they should be. They’re the world’s worst underachieving country. They embraced every bad idea the US and England ever had and made them way worse. They will re-elect the dancing cuck, count on it. A shame really because they are nice people.

They actually had an episode that featured a "fun" breathalyzer.

Each law is a landmine. If the government passes enough laws, the probability of setting off a mine increases exponentially.

I’ve changed my mind, I used to think that the only $hithole country bordering the United States was Mexico, I now stand corrected! It appears that Canada has perfected “undercover $hitholehood!” I would not be surprised in the least if Canada were to have more cameras per capita than we do, and certainly a lot more than Mexico.

““Do you really think we want those laws observed?” Said Dr. Ferris. We want them broken. You better get it straight that it’s not a bunch of boy scouts you’re up against - then you’ll know this is not the age for beautiful gestures. We’re after power and we mean it. You fellows were pikers, but we know the real trick and you’d better get wise to it. There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted and you create a nation of law-breakers - and then you cash in on guilt. Now, that’s the system Mr. Reardon, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.”

Being a Canadian it does suck what the police can get away with-but, like police patrolling crime infested neighbourhoods, they’re just going where the action is-(malls with liquor and beer stores). The guy that was stopped and who wrote the article is not who they should be concerned with-he’s the equivalent of the 90 year old granny being frisked by the TSA while the muslim family sails through check-in. I live in a community of 800,000 that once was a paradise but is now the target of mass, focused immigration from the state of Punjab, India. For some unfathomable reason, these immigrants think nothing of being drunk at the wheel, AND seem to love drinking hard liquor WHILE driving. Alcoholism is rampant and a culture of shame means they never get real and deal with their problem. You’ll see them loading up on liquor at 10 am on weekdays-it’s like shooting fish in a barrel for cops. They’ve come from a country with impossibly corrupt government and that attitude persists for our law. We get a ton of road rage, pedestrian fatalities, sheared off light poles and hit and runs by people you would think are normal suburban adults. They often rage at the police that stop them. Our community’s drunk driving and fatalities rivals Toronto which has a population 7 times as large. Our RIDE roadside sobriety programs are too understaffed and too infrequent to effectively curtail these savages, so yeah, I’m with the cops on this one.

Never met one I disliked. That's one reason we share the world's longest undefended border.

Interesting. I was born and raised in Toronto. Was drafted and played a short while for the Toronto Argonauts.

I went fishing in Northern Canada for 25+ years from the 70s until 2003. Best cold, fresh water Walleye eating in the world, with great Northern Pike for fun. The frenchies in Quebec were always overbearing, but after the terror attacks on 9/11 the way they talked about the USA deserving it, was too much for me and my Marine sniper, crazy Viet vet brother in law.

We both knew if we went back, we would have done something really stupid, so instead of committing a crime, we just stopped going to Canada.

Our group spent 10 of thousands in Canada, but after that we went to Michigan, fishing not as good, but it is the USA.
