Cultural Marxism Is Real
James G. Martin Center for Academic Renewal ^ | January 4, 2019 | Allen Mendenhall

Samuel Moyn, a Yale law professor, recently asked, “What is ‘cultural Marxism?’” His answer: “Nothing of the kind actually exists.” Moyn attributes the term cultural Marxism to the “runaway alt-right imagination,” claiming that it implicates zany conspiracy theories and has been “percolating for years through global sewers of hatred.”

Alexander Zubatov, an attorney writing in Tablet, countered that the “somewhat unclear and contested” term cultural Marxism “has been in circulation for over forty years.” It has, moreover, “perfectly respectable uses outside the dark, dank silos of the far right.” He concluded that cultural Marxism is neither a “conspiracy” nor a “mere right-wing ‘phantasmagoria,’” but a “coherent intellectual program, a constellation of dangerous ideas.”

In this debate, I side with Zubatov. Here’s why.

Despite the bewildering range of controversies and meanings attributed to it, cultural Marxism (the term and the movement) has a deep, complex history in Theory. The word “Theory” (with a capital T) is the general heading for research within the interpretative branches of the humanities known as cultural and critical studies, literary criticism, and literary theory—each of which includes a variety of approaches from the phenomenological to the psychoanalytic. In the United States, Theory is commonly taught and applied in English departments, although its influence is discernable throughout the humanities.

A brief genealogy of different schools of Theory—which originated outside English departments, among philosophers and sociologists for example, but became part of English departments’ core curricula—shows not only that cultural Marxism is a nameable, describable phenomenon, but also that it proliferates beyond the academy.

Scholars versed in Theory are reasonably suspicious of crude, tendentious portrayals of their field. Nevertheless, these fields retain elements of Marxism that, in my view, require heightened and sustained scrutiny.

The modern Left for which nothing remains of the old extreme Left that is extreme to them anymore ARE the people the anticommunists were trying to prevent.

Bernie Sanders doesn’t have to pretend to be an independent anymore precisely because this is the case.

That, and its handmaiden, censorship, are two of the hallmarks, among others.

But at its root is the upending of the existing social order by creating artificial divisions between the "X's" and the "Not X's." Notice that I say "artificial" schisms, because some divergence of ideas arises naturally. But Marxism exaggerates them, and manufactures them out of whole cloth when that fails.

Take so-called "feminism" for example. It has long since achieved its ostensible purpose and now is a pathetic relic that serves only to divide and provide a platform for screeching harridans. "Civil rights" is another example. We've long achieved racial equality; if anything, the playing field has tilted in favor of the Select.

LBTQEIEIO is an example of the wholly manufactured "crisis." Especially the fake "transgender" idiocy.

Cultural Marxism is very real, and it is dominating everything in Western Civilization.

FR recently posted an Atlantic article by Bill Lind which gives a good review of what Cultural Marxism is and how it works.

In essence, Cultural Marxism seeks to be the culture that replaces our American Constitution based culture and life style. And for the moment it is smothering us.

But an Awakening is underway. Let’s see how it ends.

“Political Correctness = Cultural Marxism”

This is what happens when you have socialism from rich libs. What really stokes it is when you constantly lower taxes of the wealthy. The best way to combat this and the uniparty is to raise their taxes. When they have the kind of socialism that comes from them paying more taxes they retreat. Also then Republican rinos whose taxes are the only thing that links them to conservatives are no longer so interested in “working with the Democrats to get things done”. Make them pay and they will probably go away. You probably do not even have to win just threatening to raise their taxes will probably scare them to straight.

Anyone who believes in socialism/communism is a child or a criminal.

Frankfurt School. Long March.

Progressivism = American brand of Communism.

Progressive Federal income tax. Direct election of Senators.

Federalized education has made virtually all schools, especially universities and seminaries, merely annexes of the one Frankfurt School.

Note that I included seminaries; they are mostly heresy factories now, embracing so-called social justice, higher criticism, homoerotic propaganda, and illegal invasion.

Fuller Theological was one of the first and worst, but they have plenty of company now.

C. S. Lewis saw this coming.

Constitution and Bible based:

Christian Christmas becomes secular, generic holiday. Christian BC/AD becomes BCE/CE, secular, generic timeline.

Nota bene: Neither the holiday season nor the global timeline were altered; they were simply usurped and subverted.

Communists steal. That is what they do. The are nothing but thieves: of money, of property, of culture, of belief, of truth, of rights.

The Muslims are the shock troops for the Marxists. They both hate liberty and Christianity.

The Marxist oligarchs think they will retain control if and when the evil dyad wins the war for Earth.
