Conservatives are pragmatic. If POTUS can continue to move toward the greater conservative good whether or not there is some compromise I can’t imagine a thinking person gives over the country to the rabble by sitting home. To be frank any who do so are traitors to their country.
But I admire their honesty. They're laying all their cards down on the table. We know exactly what they're asking for (socialism now).
They're trying to drain the swamp just as much as Trump is. It is definitely an interesting chapter in American politics that is about to open. After the Ryan/Pelosi Old Guard is ran out of town, it'll be a battle between the Trump MAGA Right vs. the AOC socialist Left.

Amnesty is not an issue for me and never was. I knew long ago there would NEVER be mass deportations. It’s simply not going to happen. I thought Trump’s DACA offer was fine, but the democrats didn’t. Interesting twist.
All they realistically want is the “symbolic victory”. They want to tar a Republican president with the scarlet “I” of impeachment. That way they think they have drawn an equivalency with Sick Willie. They can then claim when someone talks of Slick’s sordid behavior & crimes, “They all do it!”. So political criminality has company! Therefore Slick is exonerated and his legacy is now Lincolnesque. We can now elect to the presidency the “Smartest Vagina in the World!”.

Are you suggesting they form a Triumvirate to take over the Idiocrasy: O-C, Waters, Lee? I think both parties would be stunned at the sheer intellectual power they would bring to solving all the world’s problems.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m the guy who had the fight with the FReeper in Virginia a year ago trying to convince him that a RINO as governor (I think it was that race) is FAR BETTER than the Democrat. He was convinced that the only way to purge RINOs was to keep staying home and letting Democrats win.
Well, I lost...but there are millions like him, which is my point, and noises were being made here, by seriously conservative FReepers regarding the way Trump kept moving further and further left to try to get a DACA deal. While he started out really good, a lot of us were thankful to see the Dems walk away from the final offer.
I hope POTUS can thread the needle. If anyone can he can. America needs immigration reform desperately. I would tolerate a certain number of the people who came here illegally, have lived here for years without welfare or criminal records other than being here illegally, being giving work permits and a permanent residency.
I am against citizenship for those people unless it is a very delayed form so that the people who waited for legal entry & citizenship are taken care of first. Once they are permanent residents who are not eligible for welfare I think children under 18 & a spouse entering would be OK, without any access to welfare. The next generation could apply for citizenship. Otherwise no chain migration for any immigrant other than spouse and minor children.
To some Freepers this is a sellout. I think it is an imperfect world and many of this subset of immigrants have been productive and contributing members of society. We are never going to, nor do many of us want to, root out people who have been here 10, 20, 30 years and are self supporting.
Our past leaders contributed to this problem with negligence and overly generous and unpoliced welfare. The situation needs to be unwound with a border, deportations, welfare eligibility hurdles, and social security verification and pursuit of fradulent use of SS#. You notice I didn’t address voting. Only citizens can vote and I do not agree with citizenship for these foreign workers until they have been legal for 10-15 years.
If POTUS can work out a deal like that I will continue to praise him and defend him against all adversaries, since they will be my enemies as well.
