Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Buying the Media In Time for 2019 Election

The take-away from Justin Trudeau’s latest worrisome move, is that while the leftwing media may be up for sale, the average Canadian IS NOT

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wants an American-like, left-leaning mainstream media for Canada—and is investing more than half a billion taxpayers’ dollars to get it.

Watching from the country next door how the American media, which supplies a 90-plus-percent negative coverage of all things President Donald Trump and whose blatant intent is to drive him out of office, Trudeau wants a 90% left-leaning media in place for Canada’s upcoming 2019 federal election.

With all the attempts to reduce Executive power in the US, the POTUS is relatively constrained by the Constitution compared to the Prime Minister of Canada. In comparison the role of PM has much more almost unlimited power. We simply have no recourse to stop him here.

For one the old media should go the way of the buggy whip but they are all cap in hand, which compromises their fairness - obviously. But also now he has a captive media to get his message across.

Frankly other than complain, there is not much we can do about it. Same goes for the NDP in Alberta, who are taking private school funding away from any school that teaches the bible. Note, they did not single out religion, but CHRISTIANITY specifically. Their bigotry is out there for everyone to see, and again, we have no power to stop them.

We don’t have district courts we can choose to cherry pick Executive decisions we like or not like the US. At most we have our Supreme Court, but they are so hopelessly liberal in Canada, we wouldn’t stand a chance.

Isn’t Canadian media already at least as leftist as American? The CBC is leftist to the core, the Toronto Star is no more conservative than the NYT. I recall the National Post being to the right, the Globe and Mail jumping left, and maybe the Toronto Sun leans right. Trudeau already has the media sycophants he craves. Has much changed?

Good point. Canada is far MORE leftist than America. I would say 15% here are real conservatives.

And yes, they are all parodies of one another. Same story. Same angle. Same point of view. After Conrad Black’s conviction the National Post steered to the left.
