John Kelly could be on way out as chief of staff after clashing with Melania Trump

President Trump’s chief of staff John Kelly may soon be pushed out of the White House after clashing with first lady Melania Trump.

The top White House aide and the first lady have had disputes over staffing issues and travel requests, NBC News reported Tuesday.

"There have been instances where the East Wing staff were not treated as equals to the male-dominated decision makers in chief Kelly’s office," one White House official told the news outlet. "Promotions were denied then finally granted after months of requests.”

Some of the arguments have escalated to the president. The first lady brought up the issues with her husband earlier this year after Kelly repeatedly denied her requests to promote some of her staffers.

Kelly had said there were not enough available positions for East Wing staffers to have senior titles, but West Wing officials were given promotions during the same time, White House officials told NBC.

The president told Kelly to respect his wife’s wishes. "I don't need this shit," President Trump told Kelly. The first lady’s communications director, Stephanie Grisham, and White House social secretary, Rickie Niceta, were eventually promoted to deputy assistants to the president in June.

Melania Trump also disagreed with Kelly’s decision to fire her director of operations, Justin Caporale, and John McEntee, the president’s personal aide. She viewed their firings as “personal affronts.”

The pair have also clashed over travel arrangements for the first lady’s staff. Kelly repeatedly wouldn’t reserve space for Melania Trump’s two aides on Air Force One or on helicopters. They would also not have hotel rooms reserved for them and were not included in motorcade movements.

Grisham told the Washington Examiner that Kelly and the first lady have never had issues and have a “very positive relationship.”

“The East Wing is very focused on the First Lady’s initiatives and works independently. However, we do collaborate on a variety of projects and work alongside many departments within the west wing. We have a very positive working relationship,” Grisham said in a statement. “I would also add that Mrs. Trump has a very positive relationship with Chief Kelly and there have never been any issues between the two.”

It’s a little puzzling to me that the First Lady has any contact with the Chief of Staff.

NBC should be the last to know, just like CNN

I hope it's not true!

Washington Examiner is usually on our side.

The first lady brought up the issues with her husband...

There’s No Man that Trump answer to, and only One woman :)

If I recall, she built a nice bit of wealth for herself before they met so she is probably pretty tough

I wonder if any of that is even true?

These days, that is the FIRST QUESTION that should be asked about ANY MEDIA ARTICLE.

My wife doesn’t control my schedule. What kind of a game is this?

I hope not. I like The General. I think he serves Mr. Trump as kind of a Big Brother, someone who’s at ease with firing or dismissing troublesome people.
It was Kelly who lowered the boom on both Omarosa and The Keebler Elf. Mr. Trump couldn’t do it face to face, so he needs a hatchet man for such times.
Maybe the interim Atty. General will serve in such functions
if he lasts.

Of course, if General Kelly was discouraging the president from protecting our borders, then he needs to go.

We KNOW the examiner is on our side. They are just reporting that NBC Fake News is reporting it.

Obviously, the game the MSM is playing is to REMOVE the Trump allies within the Trump circle and get them fired.

It would not even surprise me they will have a “Jared Kushner is believe to be on the way out” headline in 6 months..

To be clear, the CoS is responsible for POTUS schedule. Lots of folks have input to that schedule, but the primary player is POTUS and to a somewhat lesser degree, the First Lady. They are considered a team. Get it?

The first lady often subs for things that POTUS cannot make. How these things are prioritized is decided jointly.

This has very little bearing of how things are decided in your personal household.

“It’s a little puzzling to me that the First Lady has any contact with the Chief of Staff.”

That is not the issue. The report says he blocked the promotion of two people she wanted promoted; said there was no slots, but then turned around and promoted the people he wanted promoted.

Last night, it was the DHS lady on the way out. Today, it is some aide to Bolton and now General Kelly. Sounds like somebody’s trying to start a wildfire.

Must be a lot of fake news from the fake news media. Is this their way of having a temper tantrum? Wah wah wah?

I doubt it. The “I don’t need this sh*t” quote from the President was a nice touch though. Make it sound real authentic and personal. Reminds me of some of the history books written by ancient Greek writers where they quote word for word a speech delivered 200 years earlier given by some general to his troops.

The Examiner has Byron York reporting, which is a huge plus, but I've sensed they take some glee in making the Trump WH look bad.....maybe my imagination.

The Examiner is on super secret probation.

"My wife doesn’t control my schedule. What kind of a game is this?"

I don't think it has anything to do with the President's schedule, but am assuming it's over staff working with The First Lady, and travel requests for events she's planning.

The Fake News media constantly demonized Nancy Reagan for similar alleged reasons.

Since the fake news is so extremely fake, it’s hard to tell what is fact or malicious rumor.
