Trump’s rain decision casts dark clouds over his Paris trip

PARIS — President Donald Trump’s decision to cancel his visit to an American military cemetery outside of Paris threatened to overshadow his trip here, as government officials, historians and fellow Republicans hammered him for more than 24 hours for that move.

“President@realDonaldTrump a no-show because of raindrops? Those veterans the president didn’t bother to honor fought in the rain, in the mud, in the snow — & many died in trenches for the cause of freedom. Rain didn’t stop them & it shouldn’t have stopped an American president,” wrote former Secretary of State John Kerry, a veteran of the Vietnam War.

The internet lit up Saturday and Sunday with images of other world leaders braving gray skies to lay wreaths, unveil plaques and pay their respects at memorials and cemeteries outside of Paris during a weekend to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.

French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel lay a floral wreath on Saturday afternoon at Compiègne, the site where the agreement that stopped World War I was signed. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited the World War I battlefield, Vimy Ridge, where he greeted Canadian veterans.

The White House opted to drop the trip for the president due to rainy weather because the president’s Marine One helicopter cannot fly in rain or fog.

You're stinking TUA crap is as bad as the Dems and MSMers calling Trump HITLER! So YOU back off; bozo!

If ( BIG IF ) you are familiar with my nic, then you SHOULD know that when I deem it proper to post something negative about Trump, I do so; however, at least it's about something important/necessary, unlike you on this thread.

LOL...still backtracking/excusing yourself with an extremely weak excuse.

You ONLY replied to my first post( and badly/INCORRECTLY ! ), after I poked you in the eye about it.

No, it didn’t. What put a dark cloud over the entire thing was Macron’s rude Nationalism comment and then he stood at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier just beaming at himself.

I am pretty sure when your flight detail tells you that you shouldn’t go, you don’t go.

What’s wrong with these people?

They cannot teavel by hastily organized vehicle convoy. Simply isn’t rational for a president in a foreign country

Well I don't always agree with what Trump says or does; however, there is a way to post a criticism and and a way not to. And THAT was my point.

And most of us had/have relatives who fought for that "freedom".

The White House opted to drop the trip for the president due to rainy weather because the president’s Marine One helicopter cannot fly in rain or fog.

The ONLY reason M1H does not fly the President somewhere is because the S.S. has a specific reason to advise the President not to get on board the helicopter.

I assumed the decision was not his, but Secret Service’s, pilot’s, or similar. We know how he feels about the military; he wouldn’thave made this decision.

my suggestion would be we all cut the cord and go back to antenna TV. It would greatly reduce our entertainment choices, but I'm so sick of this that I'm willing to take the loss.

Some of us are way ahead of you. Besides, TV (cable/satellite/antenna TV is ADVERTISING interspersed with occasional entertainment which rots your brain.

There could be something more about this cancellation than just the weather.

Only if you doubt that one of the most expensive and capable helicopters on the planet can't fly in the rain.

but when I just read this it seemed a bit untoward.

Of course it seemed a bit untoward. Look at the source. Any excuse to make Trump look bad.

SO... do you think Trump cancelled the flight because he didn’t want to get his helicopter wet, or do you think there was a valid reason and the SS advised him not to go that day ?

There must be some gaps in French security since even today the Presidents motorcade had nekkid boob bouncing femens topless jogging along just feet away from the Presidents motorcade to the cemetary. Maybe yesterday it might have been jihadis trotting along with a few rpg’s. Doubt the French would have stopped them. France is a SS nightmare, friends or enemies ?

Somebody call him a Wahhhmbulance, he is clearly hiding his real feelings and then backtracks into invective and conjecture trying to hide what he really dying to say

Just so YOU know Oily, My Grandfather served in that war, in the trenches, was mustard gassed and was lucky to come home a bit worse for wear but he did survive. He would NEVER have taken the stance you have of self importance and judgment, he was a true patriot who lost many friends there and saw things that affected his life. So for you to come here bellyaching about what you feel or in some cases almost demand the President should have done is worthless and not meaningful to me at all. All it shows is you come across as a whiner and I consider your words as emblematic of your true “character”

By your words shall you be known, and you have shown your true colors fully

Oh, so are you saying I posted “wrong”? What did I say that was so terrible in “not agreeing” with Trump, compared to your style?

BTW, my dad’s dad was over there in France for that war.

Yes indeedy and get him to a "safe space"! LOL

And he really has exposed himself for just what he is; which isn't what he thought would happen.

Your grandfather was a true HERO and thank GOD he made it home; so many men didn't.
