The Sun Sets On Ontario’s Left Coast

We’re still traveling in Canada - Ontario specifically -  which is beautiful despite a dearth of sunshine, a surplus of precipitation and a muted palate of autumn colors most likely due to a dryer than normal summer.

There is no Fox news here, which I know you’ll say is no great loss, but after flipping through the news programming on offer – CNN and the equally slanted Canadian version, CBC – I assure you that Fox serves a vital purpose. If Canada has a similar balancing element I’ve not seen it. As our own MSM knows, it’s much easier to keep a country brainwashed when there’s no counterpoint to their drivel.

So I leave you on your own today as we motor along Ontario’s beautiful Lake Huron shoreline.

Consider it an open thread Sunday. But don’t miss Clarice’s take on the missing and presumed dead journalist Jamal Khashoggi: Turkish Taffy. As always, things are never as the MSM would have you believe.

Me, I’m just hoping to catch the light from the sunset side of Lake Huron this evening.

Enjoy Ontario.

We had Sun News on the air for awhile. They were excellent - even better than FOX. But the powers that be made sure they were hard to access and eventually drove them into bankruptcy. They are now online as Rebel Media, with Ezra Levant being at the forefront.

Do the locals actually call it “The Left Coast?”

Lake Ontario - “The Right Coast?”
Lake Erie - “The South Coast?”
Hudson Bay - “The North Coast?”
Lake Superior - ??

For several years I worked on ore boats on the Great Lakes.
Yes they are called boats not ships even though some are 1000 feet in length. The most beautiful trip was to an iron ore dock in Georgia Bay. There was deep water but trees overhung the water and we picked leaves from them as we sailed by.

I'm just trying to think where you might be talking about. Are you referring to a dock in the Sault? I can't imagine a dock in the part of the bay enclosed by Tobermory-Collingwood-French River which is what most people think of as 'Georgian Bay'. I don't think there are any steel plants there and any ore going to Hamilton from the Iron Range would stay on the ship until it goes south on Huron and across Lake Erie through the Welland Canal to Lake Ontario....

This was 1973 I believe. I am pretty sure it was an iron ore
dock but it may have been a coal or stone dock. But it certainly was in Georgia Bay that I remember with 100% certainly.

Sun News TV was great and is certainly missed….. very informative, thought-provoking and funny. A quick recollection from the Ezra Levant show…. On his very first show, he did a piece on the IPCC and the farce of global warming and what he did at the start of the show was he pulled out a chainsaw and cut down a decent sized tree that was right in the studio.

Ezra of course has had a number of events over the past year… book signings and events that Rebel Media has organized, particularly at the Canada Christian College in Toronto. I think that there is an upcoming one in Calgary. I haven’t attended any of these but I'll definitely try to take one in sometime in the future.

Do you recall the name of the town where it was located?

Ontario’s beautiful Lake Huron shoreline.

If beautiful means unencumbered by anything of interest, then it certainly is.

Ezra has a delightful sense of humour. I remember when they exposed the porn link on the CBC (I think it was the CBC). As the spokesperson for the CBC went on about how cultured they were, and defended their very esteemed site, Sun had the porn playing in the background as she spoke. I couldn’t believe how bold they were...FAR more cutting than FOX. And FUNNY.

Ah yes, the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

On the US side, I’ve heard the whole Great Lakes called “the North Coast.”
