Agreed. Moore did not run a very good campaign (took the last weekend before the vote off to go see a football game) and that interview he gave to a teenage girl did not have a very good optic.

Maybe, but that is opinion. What is fact is that he was innocent of the allegations and the character assassination damaged his campaign unjustly.
