Yes eliminating that department would be ideal. But I think before that can happen it needs to be severely pruned and overhauled and the states at the same time need to take over. Have the private sector play a role is key. States need to be able to fire bad teachers. There needs to be more parent involvement and control. Eliminating common core. There has to be testing of competency otherwise there is no measure of progress, and wouldn’t it be nice to link teacher pay to performance.
