Tagovailoa Shines, No. 1 Alabama Ruts Louisville 51-14

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) Alabama doesn't rebuild. The Crimson Tide simply reload.

College Football Playoff hero Tua Tagovailoa threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third in his first college start, helping top-ranked and defending national champions open the season with a 51-14 rout of Louisville on Saturday night.

Essentially ending the debate - at least for now - about whether he or Jalen Hurts should be the Crimson Tide's No. 1 quarterback, Tagovailoa scored on a 9-yard run while also completing 12 of 16 passes for 227 yards without an interception.

''I thought there were a lot of things we did well and I also think there are a lot of things we need to fix,'' Alabama coach Nick Saban said.

''The effort of our players, the intensity that they played well, they executed very well on a lot of plays,'' Saban added. ''I'm really proud of the way they came out and played and executed in the game. But I also think it's pretty obvious we need to do a lot of things better.''

Although Tagovailoa came off the bench to lead Alabama to a come-from-behind victory over Georgia in the CFP championship game last January, coach Nick Saban provided no public indication of who would be the starter against Louisville (0-1) until Tagovailoa trotted onto the field following the opening kickoff.

Saban said the decision to begin with the sophomore from Ewa Beach, Hawaii was made earlier in the week, but the plan was to play Hurts, too.

And, the coach added, that's also his intention moving forward.

''I talked to the quarterbacks before practice on Thursday and they both knew exactly what the situation was going to be in the game,'' Saban said.

Quarterback question settled! (Jalen has a 26-2 record as QB for Alabama)

Tua played a perfect game. I agree with the game commentators who said that Alabama could have scored 80 points and gained 800 yards in the game, if allowed.

Tua is from Hawaii and his whole family moved to Alabama when TUA committed to Alabama.

Tua's brother is a star quarterback in HS and he has already committed to Alabama too.

Tua Thanks Jesus

Roll Tide

Is there another position Hurts can play? He still seems like a good guy to get the ball, at least running.

"Any white guys allowed to play?"

Yup.

Third string QB, Mac Jones, played in the 4th quarter

Louisville without Lamar Jackson was no match for ‘Bama. We’ll see how good The Tide is when they wade into the SEC schedule.

Bama and the SEC schedule. Auburn looks strong. Georgia in the SEC championship game. Alabama is too strong. Best QB, Best coaching. Maybe a flying saucer could kidnap the team and scramble their brains. Otherwise, Bama wins the Championship.

SEC top-to-bottom (with the possible exception of Tennessee), should be better this year.

Even Florida will be better with Mullen, but I don’t know if they are going to win more than 7 games this year, because every SEC game is going to be tough.

That the NCAA is racist? I guess you coukd ask that question to the college recruiters. I am sure it it does matter if you are a stellar white athlete in high school and don’t get any phone calls.

Our sons are across the country, but they were watching. One texted early, “No OL?” The other texted later to say, “Tua is the real deal.”

Everybody can see the difference between Tua and Jalen. It’s not that anyone wants Jalen to fail. He’s talented. But Tua is incredible.

Now for a kicker . . .

DFW Gator is possibly a Fan of Florida. As A fan of George I am glad to see Georgia finally winning the Ga/Fla game last season. UGA more than likely wins again this season. I am not glorifying the Ga. wins too much though. Florida had a about an 85% win ratio for the past 30 years or so. The state of Florida produces football players like a tropical rain forest produces plants. With the right coaching Florida will be back in the hunt. I just hope Georgia gets several more wins before Florida regains its championship ways.

I think maybe we need to hire Auburn's recruiter to find a FG kicker for Bama. It's pretty amazing how Auburn always seems to have a great, or near great kicker and that's one area where Bama has been pretty shaky for years.

That’s not what he means.

He means, why does it matter what ANY color any of the players are?

Roll Tide, Roll!

Our ONLY color is CRIMSON.
