It was a real honor to interview Dr. Iddo Netanyahu—notable historian and brother of the Israeli PM—for this podcast episode about one of the most inspiring chapters in Israel's modern history: "Operation Jonathan—The Most Daring Rescue Attempt in History."
That is really interesting! Yes, Iddo told me that one of the soldiers was paralyzed in the mission, so I imagine it was that man.
You have a sharp memory, to be able to recall all those details! Israel really did give the world an inspiring example of refusing to compromise with evil, and it’s interesting to hear about the way Americans responded to it.

Gerald Ford was POTUS in 1976. VP Rockefeller was helicoptered to Wainwright (I saw him arrive) to start the parade. RR and Nancy were on Governor's Island for the Statue of Liberty Centennial.

Other brother: Jonathan was the oldest; he’s the one who died. Benjamin, the current Israeli prime minister, was the second, and Iddo is the youngest.

Originally it was, but the Israeli government later renamed it after the man who lost his life to make it a success.
