Dietary cholesterol has little to do with it.
True they do a decent Cuban and po boy bread
It aint Leidenheimers bread but New Orleans Po Boy bread loaves simply dont travel well
I hear ya. Cant eat bread, even gf bread, so I eat the insides and sniff the delicious bread. I really dont want to eat it, dont want to feel sick, so my pleasure is in the sniffing in sandwich shops and bakeries.
Mexicans staff restaurants today about like they dominate landscape and concrete work and Warren county greenhouses
I can hear it now
Wardaddy is an open borders guy
Its just the reality....Im building something right now .....let me tell folks there are no non latino bricklayers in metro Nashville I could find....used to be black dominated good brick laying
Gone With The Wind...
The Ultimate sub on multi-grain Italian bread is excellent. I occasionally can get a better Cuban from real, actual Cuban sandwich shops, but only about 1/4 of the time. I have a box of Publix fried chicken in my fridge right now. I had three pieces for lunch. Yum.
Did you don the white chefs hat at Commanders?
I hope you were in the glass room upstairs
I love that place....whispering now....the food is decent but not great....its good for certain things
When I was a kid it was baked Alaska and cherries jubilee
Turtle soup.....which they still have
Galatoires is the best for the old guard joints ....to me
And I like Antoines for brunch
My go to joint has always been Mandinas out Canal st
Its part local part touristy
The Fitzgeralds on Ponchatrian was another cool spot but Katrina got her
Man for its size New Orleans has so many good places...everywhere
Best Po Boys
Johnnys
Parasol
Guys
Killers
Theres more....
Gumbo.....that joint in the quarter is good ....I prefer a dark nutty roux although creole purist dont take it as dark as I do
Anyhow good for you....Im hungry now
That’s bad. I went through a phase like that when I first quit gluten. Eventually, I realized that the trick was to find seasonings and sauces and add ons that made safe foods less monotonous and confining.
I will agree with you there. I have found a world of proteins with yummy seasons and sauces. And I love roasted root veggies of all kinds.
I had a sandwich yesterday thst was magnificent and if you get the chance you have to try it! I ate from the only Puerto Rican food truck in LA, or so it said on the truck. They made a tostone grilled cheese sandwich! Tostones are flattened, fried plantains, crispy outside, softer inside, yummy all through! And gluten free!
I’ll have to try that. Florida is loaded with Puerto Rican restaurants (and Puerto Ricans) so finding a hot, fresh tostone ought to be easy.
I like Commander’s Palace very much but the best restaurant was Emeril’s Nola - the finest dinner I’ve ever had. My birthday was held at CP but I was offended that my waiter’s name tag was “Jihad.” True. I never forgot that. It bothered me all during dinner and long afterward. It is still one of my favorite cities and since I hope to relocate to the southland very soon, I hope I will spend all my future birthdays in New Orleans.
My Thanksgiving dinner will be at a southern restaurant called The Vintage Year. Guess which state!
Plus with a deep fryer (shhhh I have one), they can be made easily at home. Definitely try it, they used mozzarella as the cheese inside and some greens which I thought were unnecessary (though a little hot sauce on top was!).
