Jack Murphy has done the world a great service in publishing his book, Democrat to Deplorable: Why Nine Million Obama Voters Ditched the Democrats and Embraced Donald Trump, and I would highly recommend it to everyone here, especially those who might be thinking about how to bring liberal/leftist relatives and friends over from the "dark side".
Murphy does three things in the book, each of which would separately be significant, but taken together, they add up to far more than the sum of their parts. First, he relays the searing personal story of how he went from being a pretty hard-core liberal -- highly educated, urban, committed to social justice, living in an all-Democratic, racially-diverse environment -- to being a charter member of the band of "deplorables" that elected Donald Trump to the Presidency. Without giving away too much, let's just say that he was force-fed multiple "red pills"!
The second part of the book goes in-depth to try to encapsulate his findings having traveled through Democrat to Deplorable country in the Midwest, interviewing over 1500 people, including 500 who voted for both Obama and Trump. This part is significant in providing infinitely more depth, context and diversity in its portrayal of these people as compared to how they've been portrayed in the media.
The final part of the book attempts to articulate the political philosophy driving the Democrat to Deplorable voting bloc, which is probably not distinguishable from "Trumpism": America First, at home (economically and at the borders) and abroad (militarily and diplomatically) together with a bald-faced rejection of political correctness and the cultural Marxism for which it stands.
The real utility I think for people here to read this book is that it illuminates new pathways out of Leftism that are directly related to Trump, or more specifically, Trumpism, as opposed to the Republican Party or conservatism more generally. I would wager that there are additional millions of people out there who might not be ready to register Republican or commit to the tenets of traditional conservatism, but who would be able to leave the Left for the type of ideology represented by Trumpism.

Political correctness is political control. Its tyranny wrapped in a cloak of common decency. I don’t need speech control to be a decent person. I was a decent person before pc and I am still a decent person.
The tyranny at the core of pc is anti-free speech. It is meant to shut down debate. Political control with the ultimate goal of criminalizing the language of the political opposition.
Although it is funny to watch the LEFT getting caught in the pc net, i.e., Starbucks. It still needs to be fought against no matter who the target is because it only empowers the pc police.
