The Gatling gun is one of the best-known early rapid-fire spring loaded, hand cranked weapons and a forerunner of the modern machine gun.
Invented by Richard Gatling, it is known for its use by the Union forces during the American Civil War in the 1860s, which was the first time it was employed in combat.
What about the 12-gauge you ask?
This video from "Made Smith's Enterprises, LLC" posted on Facebook.
They highlight this modified hand-cranked gatling gun that spits out 12-gauge shotgun shells at an awesome rate.
This may not be legal in all states but man wouldnt you love to have this baby rocking on your ranch as you get rid of vermins?
You can mount this thing on your truck and really go to town with the gatling gun roaring in the back. See the video footage of 12-gauge gatling gun here.
.
Good luck hitting any “vermins” with that. Motorize it, mount it on a swivel, give it a large magazine, and you may actually have something effective.
Motorize it and you have an effective path to Club Fed.

Add a motion sensor and automate the weapon.
Hope it fits my roof mount
Shooting 00 Buckshot you could shoot a wall of 30 caliber rounds out there.
Gatlings were used very rarely in the Civil War.
Would look interesting on the top of a Texas High Rack.
WRONG! EVERYTHING posted on 'Am Shooting Journal' is ACCURATE and WELL-RESEARCHED!!!
Not really. 'Specially if I gotta pay to feed it!
I'm sure somebody had a grande time making it and it's loads of fun, but it's pretty much a novelty of no real use, IMO.
Just like the "9mm vs 45" post from a coupla days ago... only there's no "novelty" to that since the 80's. d;^)
Want and I would not.
Belt fed on a turret...
Sarcasm noted, but nothing the AM Shooting Journal or IronJack said was inaccurate.
AMSJ said, "... it is known for its use by the Union forces during the American Civil War in the 1860s, which was the first time it was employed in combat."
IronJack said,"Gatlings were used very rarely in the Civil War."
Neither statement is mutually exclusive or wrong.
Not sure I could lead a flock of geese with that....
Firing #1 buckshot, that would make an awesome an awesome perimeter defense weapon or human wave attack stopper.
