Yellowstone follows the Dutton family, led by John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, under constant attack by those it borders - land developers, an Indian reservation, and America's first National Park. It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny - where land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world's largest oil and lumber corporations. Where drinking water poisoned by fracking wells and unsolved murders are not news: they are a consequence of living in the new frontier. It is the best and worst of America seen through the eyes of a family that represents both.

A new drama series starring Kevin Costner.
The series premiere was pretty good IMHO.
I do wish actors like Costner would keep their big yap shut about politics though. It taints their work.

The series premiere was pretty good. I felt like I'd just watched a mash-up of Longmire and Dallas with a pinch of General Hospital.

I have yet to see an actual, real-life story of drinking water contaminated by fracking. Not real.

The series premiere was pretty good. I felt like I'd just watched a mash-up of Longmire and Dallas with a pinch of General Hospital. That's a pretty good way of saying it. The token fishing scenes on the river felt contrived. We'll see if they catch their stride here in the next few episodes. I have a feeling some major whoop-ass is comin' soon. Someone has to pay for the dead son. More than the Injun who did the nasty deed.

That’s it exactly. Maybe a bit trashier than General Hospital.
I grew up watching Westerns with my dad, so I could actually see snippets of “Bonanza” and “Big Valley” in there as well.

It’s been a long time but I seem to remember a case (with a lawsuit) where this was claimed and it ended with evidence the owner spiked his own well to make money/publicity. IOW it was false.

Yup it’s an enviro-lie. Which makes this show “must not see” TV for me. I don’t watch propaganda for entertainment.

I tried out as an extra for this series. Didn’t make the cut. Then I hear about Costner shooting off his big mouth so I won’t be watching it.
One of my fishing buddies was the consultant for the fishing stuff.

I watched, and enjoyed the premier, but felt it was a re-do of the series “The Son” that starred Pierce Brosnan.

“” the owner spiked his own well to make money/publicity.”” One testing area up in Wyoming where fracing was blamed for water contamination turned out to be from when they drilled the water-well itself.

Sounds like Bonanza for the 21st century.
To: Varda
I stopped watching Costner for entertainment last century.

"The Son" is similar and pretty good. Starts off with the main character being captured by Indians. Fifty years later about the turn of the century he discovers oil on his neighbor's land.

The token fishing scenes on the river felt contrived. The scene where they pulled the calf and it takes off like a jack rabbit wasn't realistic either.

Since Costner, in effect, has come out against Trump, I no longer watch anything he is in.
