I really do suspect brainwashing, subliminal messaging, some form of mental conditioning. The change in people is startling. They turn into little rage machines that are fully cranked up.
Well, I was never called a Nazi, but when my son was boots-on-the-ground in Ramadi, Iraq with the USMC, and I commented about fearing for his safety, my family member (no longer “dear”) went off on me about how Bush lied, etc., etc. at great length.
She’s now working on a “RESIST” quilt, if that tells you anything.
