Aerospace and technology giant United Technologies Corp. said Wednesday it plans to hire 35,000 people -- including thousands in Connecticut -- and spend more than $15 billion on capital improvements and research and development over the next five years.
UTC also announced plans to spend an additional $75 billion through local procurement of products and services, money that could include components from Springfield-area precision manufacturers....

UTC is also buying Rockwell Collins of Cedar Rapids, IA and they are not saying they will downsize the workforce there.
That’s probably one of the best military radio and avionics companies in the world and has been since World War II. Why would they downsize?
Build the wall. The invasion is here, not in the Middle East or Asia. We are losing HERE.

UTC probably believes that change is in the air. The state senate was split 18/18 after the last election.
Connecticut will gain 2000 jobs from this figure, so I guess the remaining 33000 jobs will be in places like the midwest or plains states.

As a former Pratt Rat, I can’t help but wonder if this isn’t just because of gentrification. The average workforce age back in my day was a concern......
