I recommended to all three of my macho, patriot sons that they avoid the military due to the political correctness and the fact that during their “time” Obama was CIC.

Sad to do it. Would have been proud to have my sons serve.

But it’s not America any more. Until they change their standards where a sane patriot can serve without hiding his values, well, the sane patriots are very disincentivized to join. I mean it doesn’t pay well, it’s hard, and you can get yourself hurt or killed, not to mention see horrors.

Add to this the despicable way the VA has treated veterans for decades. Shameful.

I joined the Army, the Infantry, because it was manly and the infantry kicked but and took names. Now, it is simply wussified and PC. How could anyone stand it!?
God bless our troops. They’ve got a tough job made harder by PC police and women in combat arms. Men can’t even be men in the Military any more.

All branches need to focus on retention. I know more than a dozen highly skilled people that cost us millions to train that left the service at their first opportunity. Turn over is unbelievable and unsustainable.

There's a bigger issue that doesn't get a lot of attention in these articles about enlistment shortfalls.

Does the U.S. even need a large standing military at all?

I ask this question not in the context of military "needs" as they are presented in articles like this one, but in the context of the U.S. Constitution and the proper role of the Federal government.

The simple truth is that there is no constitutional justification for having hundreds of thousands of U.S. troops stationed all over the globe. If I join the U.S. Army tomorrow and my first assignment out of training is anywhere other than the southern border of the United States, then the U.S. Army should have an enlistment goal of ZERO.

IMHO At this point in history, the smaller the standing US army the better. Defense money is better spent on the Navy and Marines which has a predominately “outward” facing mission.

Patriotic Kids fear the politically correct climate

We have a family friend who is in Army training now six months in

He says it’s. a hot mess

Politically correct crap permeates everything

One big orgy of white girls with jungle fever
And thug life

Low discipline and morale

He went in wanting to study diesel and one day have his own shop

Now he’s entering combat groups trying to become a member of an elite branch of the Army combat bound not because he wanted to be a recon ranger courting danger to being with

But according to him that’s where the only real men are who act right like they give a shite

Instructors included

He got in. Fight with two guys stealing from his locker ...sounds like prison....he had to undergo anger consultation since he beat them and of course we know what color they were ..he’s very talented as a fist fighter

It’s been a disappointment to him

He now looks forward to Afghanistan ..lol...not exactly his plan when he joined up

He was orphaned at 12 within three years by a car wreck and then cancer
Both parents, he’s lived with us a bit

He hasn’t had a good life and we encouraged him to join mostly to attain college help in time

He’s headed to Fort Campbell now so we’ll be able to visit

I worry about his safety of course

The global Stalinist propaganda war is winning. Gotta get this pendulum to swing back to biological science instead of social psychology.

I do not recommend joining the Army, or any service for that manner.

A Perfect Storm is Brewing in Army Recruiting – Does It Know Why?

It is always harder to recruit in a good economy than a bad one. And fifteen years of war doesn't help as well.

This has been going on since forever.

In the early 1980’s, I knew women who were given answers to Air Force exams simply to ensure there were women present in the career field. While the men were expected to compete in a career field that graduated about 20 per year with a 75% washout rate, and only 2 in 1,000 applicants were ever accepted, the USAF wasted slots ensuring women were represented. In the field, it was a disaster. Those women did clerical duties while the men did the work. We got out and had great careers. The women, not so much.

On top of it, the USAF decided a 75% washout rate was unacceptable and demanded a 90+% pass rate, so, even the boys were eventually just given the answers to the exams and the course materials was watered down.

When the special operations units were in desperate need of trained operators, there simply weren’t any. But no one cared because the blue suits had their graduation rates and women.

That was 35 years ago. It is no doubt far worse today.

Bring back the draft. The mandatory shared experience of bootcamp and military life used to be way Americans eyes were opened to the real world.
