Even as we see African states refusing to take action to restore something resembling civilization In Zimbabwe, the Begging bowl for Ethiopia is being passed around to us out of Africa, yet again. It is nearly 25 years since the famous Feed The World campaign began in Ethiopia, and in that time Ethiopia's population has grown from 33.5 million to 78+ million today.

So, why on earth should I do anything to encourage further catastrophic demographic growth in that country? Where is the logic? There is none. Now they want to move to other countries...

To gain self sufficiency, one must aspire to that goal. A tradition of warlords seeking plunder, dominion, eradication to benefit their local group is not amenable to developing the natural resources. They would rather scheme than cooperate.

“It would be easy to help them develop their own energy sources, food production, and education.” The track record speaks loudly that few of the problems within Africa are easily solved. They prefer their traditions over adopting the outsider’s ways. Wealth until the 19th century was measured in herds of four hoofed herbivores.

Africa’s average population growth is close to twice greater than the average of all other regions upon the Earth. Where is Eugenics in evidence? Where is population control apparent outside of the extreme north or south of the continent?

You're mixing apples and oranges - promoting contraception actually reduces the incidence of abortions, for one thing. More importantly, wouldn't promotion of condom use be a good thing for much of Sub-Saharan Africa, given that most of the people there can't even afford to feed and clothe the children that they already have, and the fact that in some countries nearly 1/3 of the population is HIV positive?

Encouraging and abetting the ongoing population explosion in Africa is insanity, both from the standpoint of Africa's well-being and our own. They don't, won't, and can't have the economy or infrastructure necessary, to support an exploding population. We can't afford the flood of refugees that will result, especially not with the liberal immigration policies of the US and most of Europe.

Sub-Saharan Africa is a mess today with a population of just over a billion (I think), and those fleeing it are creating a mess for the developed world. Imagine the same situation but with double or triple that population. Those are the facts on the ground.
