I lived in NYC my entire life, and I remember when Gotti was King. Crime was virtually nonexistent in his neighborhood ( Howard Beach/Ozone Park ). After leaving school, he devoted himself to working with the Mafia-associated Fulton-Rockaway Boys gang. These were neighborhoods where people NEVER relied on NYPD to solve their differences - they knew the Gambinos would protect them - ergo, Gotti had loyal supporters, as POTUS does today! La Cosa Nostra = Our Thing/This Thing of Ours, which is exactly how Trump supporters feel regarding our Free Republic...

The reality is, Gotti was a common thug who made his money via prostitution (kids, slaves, whatever), and drugs (heroin, cocaine), and murder-for-hire, and extortion, and loan-sharking. And buying off cops and judges. And shaking down immigrants trying to start businesses.
Nothing righteous or altruistic about any of that.
Donald Trump is no saint ("for all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God"), but he's no John Gotti.
