I'm not usually, if ever, asking for help on something, but my cd player won't play "Hitman" or anything else I feed it.
I can't find a "My CD" folder, as described in one of the articles' repair steps.
I'll do what I can from your suggestions, up to my limited knowledge base, to implement any ideas. Within reason.
Thanks in advance.
first things first... this is a computer with a cd drive? and your OS is? And what is your media player prog... does the cd drive show up in “my computer”?
Will it play cassettes?
I cant get my dash air to work.
Must be the moon??
You might try describing the player if you want help.
I have some CDs that won’t play on all devices. I have a clock radio that won’t ‘see’ certain unscratched CDs.
I also have found a number of CDs (including some that won’t play in the clock radio) that cannot be played on my laptop. Some of that may be because of ‘protection’ schemes.
These CDs will play fine in my car’s player.
Sometimes I have audio (and even network) problems with Microsoft (several different computers).
See if there is a “repair” wizard to let Microsoft fix what they might have broken.
What software do you usually use for playback?
Is your CD/DVD drive internal or external?
Try unplugging (or removing) the CD player and reconnecting it. Sometimes the connection gets loose.
Without breaking your player, sometimes you can remove the device by gently pulling on the (open) door/drawer. But sometimes there is a screw or latch/pin to keep the drive in place.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
If it’s on CD, it’s probably on YouTube. Why don’t you search and see if you can find the audio there.
This is so embarrassing. Who can get carriage_hill to reply?
“If its on CD, its probably on YouTube. “
The quality on YouTube really sucks.
Obtain new equipment by spending your money!!
lol
That’s just mean.
Embarrassing is posting your photobucket online!
are you logged...
oh hell, never-mind.
I quickly built up a collection and as the prices slowly dropped (they never did go much below $10) I accumulated hundreds and hundreds of them. I would have gone on buying them for a while longer but they started discontinuing the jewel case in favor of "more enviro-friendly" packaging.
That just wouldn't do. By then, I had about 2,000 CDs alphabetically arranged (by genre) on custom built shelves in my den. The new style compact disc containers were a drag because they were essentially just cardboard sleeves so when you fitted them on the shelf you could hardly read the writing on the spine, if at all.
Around that time, MP3s started to be the next big thing so I spent hours and hours and HOURS converting those compact discs to the MP3 format at 128bps.
Then hard drives got bigger so guess what? I pulled the CDs back out of the basement and went ahead and painstakingly re-converted every single one of them into 320bps AAC format so I could have better audio quality.
All of the above a colossal waste of time! Because now, of course, I pay Spotify the $10 a month and have access to pretty much everything ever recorded via streaming.
All those years of collecting and all those hours of cataloguing and converting was all for nothing.
Sorry I couldn't fix your current CD problem. Maybe you should just give it up and subscribe to streaming your music.
It could be that the driver(s) have vanished. Try restoring your computer to an earlier date and see what gives. To restore go to the start button in the lower left tray, click it and type in restore. Good luck.
The reset strategy. Always a good idea.
I'm kinda surprised that no one has asked if it's plugged in and even more surprised that this FRiend starts a thread and doesn't participate.
