You can’t disprove a “good guy with a gun” theory with a “coward guy with a gun” example.
Blumenthal swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution when he took office.
The Second Amendment is part of the Constitution he swore to support. That puts him in violation of his oath.
How soon before Connecticut voters can dump this turd?
Only ONE person I know is “foolish” enough to type what I’m going to.....ME!!!!
If I was out there, armed, I would be terrified of the thought, “What would happen to me if while firing at the shooter during the melee inside and one of my bullets MISS the perp and strikes a poor (Student, kid, child)?”
The furies of a demented hell would descend on the security guard. Yes, banks and museums do have armed security guards, but they do NOT have terrified, screaming HUGE groups of people milling around the trouble zone.
In such a place as a theater or school, virtually ANY bullet fired is going to strike SOMEONE, and mabye not the intended target.
Those kids died when the AUTHORITIES “lawfully” protected a person who ADVERTISED his intentions.
I don’t think “cowardice” is in any part of the definition of “good guy”.
Not knowing the details, but, the high school looked to be three stories with exits down stairs at the ends of the halls, I content a lot more damage could have been done with a gallon of gas.
It proves that if you believe the way to stop mass shootings is to impose gun control instead of hardening the target through properly trained and motivated law enforcement, people die.......
You are right. All of this falls so far outside of a simple black and white situation.
Just off the top of my head I can ask: you are at the end of one hallway with no one watching your back and no cover and a 9mm Glock. You have no idea how many shooters there are. Suddenly, 8 fast moving HS students turn the corner, very suddenly, 40 yards away, with shooter right behind them and he takes aim. How do you shoot the shooter knowing that with distance and the high risk situation you have a great chance of killing one or more of the kids as well while also realizing that you are down range with no cover?
No matter what you do, outside of making a split second, point shoot, career shot at a great distance under extreme stress, you are screwed.
Everyone acts like this is soo easy.
Now, add in 5 armed and terrified teachers, in totally different areas of the school, who have never been in a gun fight, and who took a 3 hour shooting class, a year ago, and you have the set up for one of the dumbest cross-fire, friendly-fire situations I can ever imagine.
I think both sides of the topic grossly oversimply the factors involved. Im not going to pretend I have an answer.
