That's right, that's right, I'm sad and blue
'Cause I can't do the boogaloo
I'm lost, I'm lost, can't do my thing
That's why I sing "Gimme, gimme dat ding!"
Gimme dat, gimme dat, gimme, gimme, gimme dat
Gimme dat ding, gimme dat, gimme, gimme dat
Gimme dat ding, gimme dat, gimme, gimme dat
Gimme, gimme, gimme, dat ding
(Oh, sing it one more time, mama)
Ah, gimme dat, gimme dat, gimme, gimme, gimme dat
Gimme dat ding, gimme dat, gimme, gimme dat
Gimme dat ding, gimme dat, gimme, gimme dat
Gimme, gimme, gimme, dat ding
(Ah, you ain't doing that late at night)
A-ooh, what good's a metronome without a bell for ringing?
(You're right, you're right, it's no use at all)
How fast can anybody ever tell he swinging?
(Eh, they can't tell)
How can you tell the rhythm written on a bar?
(Well, you don't go too far, that's what you do)
How can you ever hope to know just where you are?
(Well you look around ya)
Gimme dat
(Gimma dat)
Gimme dat
(Gimma dat)
Gimme dat
(Gimma dat)
Gimme dat
Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme

OH NO! ANOTHER TIE-BREAKER MINI-ROUND IS NEEDED!
Never thought it would happen this late in a contest.
“AMERICAN PIE” is the run-away winner of one semi-final. It beat “Joy to the World” handily.
However, “Rhinestone Cowboy” has been keeping pace with “Stayin’ Alive”, and so we must again try to break this tie.
Maybe you’ll change your mind? Or maybe someone else will vote who didn’t chime in before. Let’s try to break this. If not, it’s my choice after that!
******RUN-OFF on ROUND 6*****
Please vote for 1 of these 2 songs, due MONDAY, Feb 26 @ 7:00pm Eastern:
“Rhinestone Cowboy” by Glen Campbell
vs
“Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees
Freebird!!
My personal #1 song for the '70's is:
Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy by the Andrews Sisters (1973)
Stayin’ Alive
We need to do a contest featuring the durable songs, not just the Adult-Contemporary chart-toppers.
Proposed for 1970:
Bridge Over Troubled Water*
American Woman*
Let It Be
Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)
All Right Now
Venus
Instant Karma!
Lookin’ out My Back Door
Cecilia
The House of the Rising Sun
25 or 6 to 4
Proposed for 1971:
Joy to the World*
One Bad Apple*
Take Me Home, Country Roads
Me and Bobby McGee
Superstar
Proud Mary
You’ve Got a Friend
Won’t Get Fooled Again
Riders on the Storm
My Sweet Lord
1972 nominees:
American Pie*
“Lean on Me*
Heart of Gold
Nights in White Satin
Rocket Man
Layla
School’s Out
Roundabout
... you get the idea...
* Just because they were on your list doesn’t mean I’m saying they shouldn’t be included.
Also, I didn’t include some AC songs I happen to like, like “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” because I’m trying to be impartial about going with Rock over AC.
****Round 6 is over!***
