Anyone here using Duolingo??
But I'm unsure exactly how I should proceed through the 60 lessons. Am I supposed to proceed through all 60 lessons at Level 1 and then start over with Level 2 and so forth? Or am I supposed to do a smaller bunch of lessons at Level 1 and then 2 and 3, as the program seems to let me do, and then move on to the next bunch?
I've looked all over for any actual instructions but found none.
Anyone else using the app?
I use google translate.
I have no clue what I’m actually saying.
Ive used it but just did whatever they said to do next.
I used it a couple of years ago, and if I remember right you could sort of test out of different levels. ( While doing that I remember I was amazed at what parts of grammar I could remember and I didn’t know how I was remembering that. Other parts of the test left me knowing nothing.)
Also I remember that the sentences were weird. You were asked things like if you were “drinking wine in front of the spider.” A family member who was using with a different language was getting the same weird questions.
However, I don’t think it helped me with fluency.
I enjoyed Pimsleur programs. You should supplement any do it youself course with an online school that focuses on conversational Spanish.
Spanish? Hell no, thats a shiithole country language.
I speak merican.
I use it sometimes. I work on learning the Norwegian language. I agree with sean _ og, it will have you test out of some of the lessons. It will also have you re-test out of lessons you completed awhile back.
So go at any pace you want.
I have been using it for French.
Follow its instructions.
It works on different tracks. I suggest you go as far as you like, as it permits you, until you get to where its getting hard.
Also, try read Spanish text (newspaper websites are good) and view Spanish videos. There are some good movies on Youtube, especially Spanish (from Spain) ones.
Umm..you said.."I have no clue what Im actually saying."
Does that help. : )
Before Google Translate:
"I have no clue what Im actually saying."
After Google Translate:
"I do not know what I'm talking about."
Well that's google translate's opinion.
I use duo....I had no training so I had to start from scratch. There are “leap ahead” tests along the way to leap you forward.
LOL!!....Yeah, I know...
Yes, I use it, along with Memrise. Duolingo offers better tools & texting, imo
Careful:
A merkin is a pubic wig. Merkins were originally worn by prostitutes after shaving their genitalia, and are now used as decorative items, erotic devices, or in films, by both men and women. The female version is usually made of fur, beaver pelts, linen or some soft version of cloth, while the male version is usually made of loops, chains, or metal, and is much more closely related to the codpiece.[
I tried it and had to give up.
Evidently, I’m old school, and pronounce A, E, I, O, U as ay, eee, eye, oh, you.
So they’d show me a letter which I knew was pronounced “eee,” I’d play their audio example which said “eee” but they expected me to choose “i” as the answer to what the English equivalent is. Since I wasn’t prepared to relearn English according to some kind of phonetic system I neither know nor understand, I stopped using it.
I started on Duolingo about six months ago.
The thing is, I was doing great in the first couple lessons, but then I suddenly hit a HARD lesson. It passes you through the lessons. But as I recall I hit the lesson which was very difficult, and it sort of took the wind out of my sails.
May try again, but that was my experience anyway. YMMV.
Si Senor, yo comprendo
The good thing about Duolingo is that it reminds you every night to take your lesson.
The bad thing about Duolingo is that it reminds you every night to take your lesson.
