The Crazy Story of Stuckie the Mummified Dog!

So the story goes, back in the 1960s down in Georgia, a hunting dog chased a raccoon up inside a hollow tree. The determined dog wouldn’t give up from chasing the coon farther up, so it eventually got stuck.

Back to 1980 – Here's the excerpt from The Sportsmen Party Facebook page: In 1980 a "logger" found the dog after processing the log and donated it to a museum.

The dog is a hunting type dog and around 4 years old. Apparently was in there for around 20 years. Scientists believe his fate was sealed when he chased something up into the tree. Read the rest of the mummified dog story here.

I’m assuming that the dog was so stupid the hunter/owner figured it wasn’t much of a loss. Either that or he was a stray.

In my area we have these little frogs about an inch long. We discovered one had been crushed and adhered on the jamb and was kind of dried out and preserved, just like Stucky. We left them there for a number of years. When we had to remove him for the door to be refinished we put him in a jar that we still keep which has this epitaph:
“LUCKY
1999-Later in 1999”
I’d say more, but it’s kind of emotional for me. >>>sniff<<<

I’m assuming the owner probably did call the dog, but couldn’t hear the response and the owner didn’t know where to begin to look for it.

Poor dog, either way.
