Those former colonies in West Africa are all shitholes. I worked in Senegal/Gambia/Mauritania for a little over a year in the late 80’s and they were all shitholes. Abandoned by the original colonists of those countries and left to rot.
Nigeria has oil wealth so try to imagine the even poorer African countries.

He is correct. If everyone who has come here to escape their country got together and organized they could change their countries. Even the poor who came here and were educated here or learned a trade could make incredible contributions in their home country.
If someone has left a country to come to a strange country and start from scratch to make a life, you can pretty much bet that the country they left qualifies as a sh*thole.

They allowed dictators & troublemakers to gain control. They refused education. They refused medical help on HIV problems.

EXACTLY. That non-stop tribal warfare--now made worse with access to modern weapons--is causing undue suffering in just about the entire continent.
There a lot of “shit hole” countries that many of us have never heard of. Pointing them out was not a crime but one would think so by the reactions to Trump’s statement. Knowingly, it is NOT the US’s responsibility to “fix them”.
Well, anyone offended by the accurate designation of shithole only has to work to modernize/sanitize/un-shithole their country. Change attitudes. EVOLVE for pity’s sake. Don’t BE one won’t be called one!
I have friends from Nigeria, they can’t stand American blacks, and they love Trump.
