It’s important to note that all M&P 15’s aren’t created equal.
The sport models are cheaper and can be had at the mid 500’s.

Agreed. For $599 here in GA you can get the S&W. It does not have a dust cover or a forward assist but since you won’t be fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan its not a big deal.
