USPS works for 400 Junk Mailers, NOT the American People

“You mentioned making the service better for our customers; but the American citizens aren’t our customers—about 400 junk mailers are our customers.” — US Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe to Outbox founder Evan Baehr

This was after Baehr tried to start a high tech service using letters digitzed into email to benefit consumers.

Trump has jumped the shark.

Didn’t Harry Reid tell us junk mail was a good thing?

The people who use them are their customers. Why is that surprising?

My junk mail goes straight in the garbage.

I don't know why they bother.

“Not about American people, about Amazon”.

What is your chief concern when shopping online?

Shipping.

If I got my mail every other day I would be fine. Fewer trips to the garbage can that way.

Decades ago there was a science fiction short story about a man who shut down a postal system by writing a short personal letter to a girl friend. Not only did he ignore his government approved “girl next store” but the computer controlled mail sorting system was unable to sort the letter. So the system shut down and disrupted the nation’s economy for weeks.

Who says science fiction is only fiction?

You and me both. I empty my box every 10 days.

All that’s kept is one magazine I subscribe to, and any cards/letters sent from family or friends.

Everything else, about 95%, goes straight into recycling.

I horde it up and use it as a free weed block layer in the garden beds under the mulch.

Yeah - but they give special rates to deliver a bunch of trash that gets tossed out - stop the lower rate practice and they will either slim down by not having so much to handle or earn enough to not have to keep raising regular rates.....

A few years ago I collected a years worth of junk mail I had received over a years period, it totaled just over 135 lbs. Understand this was with the ex wife who I think was on every mailing list in the US.

Actually, it is actually getting what I ordered. Shipping is how it is done, now how ‘cheap’ I can get it, in one piece.

Maybe subsidizing the USPS is just hunky dorey with you so you can get your crap ‘cheaper’. Maybe a correspondence class in basic economics is in order?

It’s almost as bad with junk EMAIL.

A couple of weeks ago I bit the bullet and “unsubscribed” and it has significantly slimmed out mail daily email task.

DUH!
