I heard this on the Phil Valentine show. A listener sent it to him as a suggested new slogan for the Republications. I thought it was perfect, so I'm posting it here as a vanity to see if it will catch on.
"If you like your money, you can keep your money."
Tax cuts for tax payers.
Your money is YOUR money
- not Nancy’s or Chuck’s.
Your money for your kids
- not for politicians.
Sounds like John Locke’s “Second Treatise on Government”. It was one of the guiding lights for our Founders and should be read and discussed by every high school student.
Unfortunately, my taxes have more than tripled.
I was relying on a particular allocation of income that no longer works, and now I’ll have to figure out something else.
Great Post!
It's both reminiscent of and mocking of 0bama. I don't mind the mock, but I'd prefer to excise the memory and residue of the memory. And the mock entertains me little at this point.
Those are just *my* views. But more importantly, it's IMO actually a big misfire once you think about it; because those people who have the crappy opinion of 0bamacare are the ones who may have been equivocal about it at first; but are now paying astronomical rates for the same healthcare. And ultimately, that phrase IMO has serious semi-generational sting to it. It may be one of the biggest lies ever told, and he/she who utters it is marked as a big fat liar. If it's intended as satire, trust me, as one who can be very satirical, VERY few people "get it". And when they don't "get it" they most often become very uncomfortable NOT getting it.
That's in a nutshell why IMO it should not used.
A slogan works only when it makes sense to darn near everybody. This tax “reform” will help many people. but it will also hurt some. In a way, it’s kinda like Obamacare. I know folks who were financially saved by Obamacare. And I know folks who were crippled by it.
And one clue that this new tax deal is not all that it could be: lot’s of folks are confused by it.
What happened to the Republianions?
Oops—good catch. Thanks.
Unless you live in a high-tax Democrat hell hole state like me.
It works. You just need an illustration. A meme.
Really like your slogan! We need to keep repeating it. OK if I use it?
I don’t think that phrase means what you think it means.
When Obama said, “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor”, it was a complete lie.
Are you saying that the Republicans are lying when they say, “You can keep your money’?
We know who earned your paycheck.
Based on the lies of the previous 8 years, this is “saying” that my money will indeed be lost into the government sewer. “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor...if you like your plan you can keep your plan”....then POOF!
Great!
I think the difference is that people are going to start seeing more money in their paychecks whereas with OBamaCare, they immediately starting seeing LESS MONEY and LESS MEDICAL CARE.
So for me, it’s works as an opposite illustration.
We want coordinated plans to restore America and Americans to general prosperity and all due freedom.
You’re right. It’s the same lie that Obama told about health care. You are not going to be able to keep your money; “they”ll just figure out another way to get it. What they give with the right hand, they’ll take with the left.
