Yeah—if you consider 1.6% growth “robust” . . .
On CNN this morning, Michael Smerconish suggested that there was no point in cutting taxes, since, speaking of the economy “things seem to be quite robust, as they were for the last few years of the Obama administration.”
This is wrong on two counts. First, the economy was far from “robust” at the end of the Obama administration. To the contrary, in Obama’s final year, the economy grew at a paltry 1.6%. And Obama scored the dubious achievement of being the first President since Herbert Hoover to fail to have the economy grow at least 3% in any year during his term.

The peak GDP was 2015 (2.9) and 2014 (2.6). If they compare only the eight year period....they are correct.
In 2004 (3.8) and 2005 (3.3) were the peak out of the Bush years.
So....lets go back...1997 (4.5), 1998 (4.5), 1999 (4.7), and 2000 (4.1). Four great years in a row.
How about 1983 with 4.6 GDP, and 1984 with 7.3 GDP?
I don’t need nickle and dime dimwits with CNN to provide analysis...they are utterly lost. You might as well hire some 22-year-old kid out of college who would at least give you a better decade by decade analysis.
The blunt side of this is that economy for twenty years has been marginally stagnant. We need a change.
