I remember when the media broke the news about the Shoemakers discovering the comet with Levy that was named after them, the Shoemaker-Levy comet. The media made sure we all knew he was an amateur star gazer.
As it turned out, he has as much if not more knowledge of the Universe as the so called experts.
As for the media, it just goes to show you how ignorant they are, and always have been.
