Mercedes and NASA help Emirates make latest luxury Boeing 777 suites

The six fully enclosed cabins for its Boeing 777 jets feature seats that recline into flat beds and a 32-inch television.

These virtual windows - which are used in some cruise ships - project the view from outside the aircraft using real-time camera technology.

"Emirates pioneered the First Class private suite concept back in 2003, and today it's the industry benchmark when it comes to first class travel".

Emirates, the largest airline in the world, unveiled a new first class suite on the first day of the Dubai Air Show for its Boeing 777 fleet- and said it is rolling out an advertising campaign fronted by Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson.

"The in-flight experience is the heart of our brand and service proposition. features our latest fully-flat leather seats with personal minibars, economy-class seats have adjustable full leather headrests, and the in-flight entertainment system has been upgraded for all cabin classes".

Emirates' latest First Class product gives a nod to the design philosophy of the Mercedes-Benz S- Class, bringing together two global brands renowned for innovation, luxury, and comfort.

Passengers would see more modern and airy cabins, said Clark. Emirates uses A380s on its services out of New Zealand.

Passengers will be able to use the controller to communicate directly with flight attendants using a video chat capability, or request privacy with a "do not disturb" setting.

There is also a lie-flat bed mode for sleeping, a hatch for cabin crew to deliver food orders and storage space via an overhead compartment and full length cupboard. First Class customers can enjoy dine on demand service, with a selection of the finest cuisine prepared by gourmet chefs.

Clark also confirms that the business class cabin pictured above "represents the last makeover of this generation of seat" for Emirates' Boeing 777, so there will be no further business class makeovers for the Boeing 777s currently flying between now and the Boeing 777X's debut.

Meanwhile in economy, the carrier has adopted a soft grey and blue colour pallette with ergonomically designed seats and full leather headrests.

As someone who’s in the food service industry, I don’t see how it can be done. Unless you have a VERY limited menu, you just can’t bring all the raw ingredients you’d need to build gourmet meals from scratch. Not only that, the galley itself would have to take up more space than would be economically feasible.

The Triple 7 is big, but not THAT big. Heck, I don’t think you could even do something like that on an A380.

The old flying boats of the 1930’s must have been the pinnacle of airline food service.

“Prepared by gourmet chefs.” Emphasis on the period. They didn’t say “on the plane”.

Dine on demand may just mean that you get your meal anytime you ask.
They could either stock enough gourmet meals to meet any choice, or have the 1st class choose meals before the flight during online check-in.

Before the Government took them over, passenger trains had kitchens and dining cars.Think of the classic Orient Express with wings.

Pan Am offered this service and more on its China Clippers, flying boats. They were very luxurious. A round trip ticket from Alemadia, Ca to Hong Kong cost about $5,000 in 1930’s dollars, a huge sum in those days.
