On Monday, The Hill reported that Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif., walked out of a moment of silence on the House floor for victims of Sundays mass shooting at a Baptist church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Lieu said he will not be silent after yet another massacre.
My colleagues right now are doing a moment of silence in the House of Representatives chambers, he said. I respect their right to do that and I myself have participated in many of them.
But I cant do this again, Ive been to too many moments of silences. In just my short period in congress three of the worst mass shootings in us history have occurred. I will not be silent.
According to The Hill:
Lieu referred specifically to the Texas shooting, as well as the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub in June 2016 that left 49 people dead, and the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history in Las Vegas last month, during which 55 people were killed.
Lieu called for the House to take action and pass gun safety legislation now.
I urge us to pass reasonable gun safety legislation, including a universal background check law supported by 80 percent of Americans, a ban on assault rifles and a ban on bump stocks, he said.
We need to do that, we cannot be silent. We need to act now.
The Hill added:
Dem lawmakers renewed their calls for Congress to pass gun control legislation in the wake of Sundays shooting, but Republican lawmakers have declined to do so.
A poll last month found that support for stricter gun regulations had reached an all-time high, with 60 percent of respondents saying they would be in favor of the measures.
The Senate Judiciary Committee said Monday that the panel will hold a hearing on bump stocks, or the device used by the Las Vegas gunman to simulate automatic gunfire on semi-automatic weapons. Seventy-three percent of respondents in the same poll said they back banning bump stocks.
Of course, Lieu isnt the only Democrat who politicized the Texas shooting. Former President Barack Obama used the shooting to promote gun control as well.
Naturally, Democrats refuse to acknowledge that it was a good guy with a gun who stopped the bad guy with a gun.
Anything to get air time and eyeballs.
Sounds like you are the common factor here, Mister Lieu. Time to go back to private life, fella; we don't need anymore of your bad juju.
When raising awareness by desecrating mourning christians or shooting them up in church, you might be à terrorist
Ted Lieu should keep his ignorant mouth silent at all times.
Ted, you will have to use deadly force to take my protection from me, primarily because there are so many that want to kill. When they have committed to killing many people they will find a way regardless of how you try to hamstring them with laws. Those laws have zero affect on those with lawless intentions. If they did have any affect we would be a nation without crime.
Then F’ You schmuck.
Strange, I don’t recall hearing Ted having such dramatics when Chicago reached 300 killings this year. Or 400. Or 500. Or 600... How about the entire democrap party talk about that liberal success story of a gun free zone in Illinois?
They really just don't get it. "Laws" do not deter determined killers/drug dealers/slavers/career criminals, et al.
My remedy, however, is the opposite of what Mr. Lieu would call for. We need to raise an army of armed citizens, trained in weaponry, self defense, anti-terror tactics and trauma medicine.
After the crazy killed movie theater patrons I started carrying my CCW weapon and choosing my seating for maximum view. I may run a risk of being mistaken for the bad guy by other CCW persons. Now I guess I’ll have to apply the same concept to my church.
Hey Leiu, Your septic tank is ready. Enjoy your swim.
It's past time for us to become brutal to criminals. I see these wetback criminals getting mug shots. They're smiling/smirking. Criminals need to fear American law.
Faggots?
