After a man wielding a knife attacked and kidnapped a woman, she was able to grab her concealed carry gun and scare him off, probably saving her own life. Guns save lives. An Illinois woman probably saved her life from a knife wielding attacker when she was able to reach her concealed handgun.
The woman had parked her car near a shopping mall in Moline when a man brandishing a knife jumped into her vehicle. She reportedly fought with the attacker as he entered her car, whereupon he slashed her arm and told her to drive to a rural area in Rock Island County.
She began driving but once she stopped her car she was able to reach her concealed handgun. Upon seeing the weapon the attacker hastily exited the vehicle and ran off. The woman was able to drive herself to the hospital for treatment to her knife wound. Read the rest of the woman with concealed carry gun story here.
So sad that she didn’t blow his fricken brains out!
No description of the perp. I guess he was a generic perp.
Had she been willing to fire, the perp would have been at least wounded and arrested or permanently eliminated from future crimes.
It's a war and we're all soldiers in this fight.
Mmmm, dark kinky hair and brown eyes? Last seen running away holding up his pants, but he had checkered underwear. Wearing a hoodie and $1000 Air Jorden’s? Just speculating.
Since she didn’t shoot anyone the fanatic gun grabbers won’t recognize this as a successful defensive use of a firearm. It’s how they cook the books.
Anyone who attacks unjustly has by that act lost his right to life. If the woman, or man, needs to eliminate the attacker by deadly force, so be it, and no government has the right to take this right away, no matter what laws are passed.
Just axin'.
“...He’s lucky she let him live....”
That’s exactly right. He’s the lucky one....not her.
She had every right to blow his sorry, thug azz away....and should have to save some other poor soul from being his next victim.
I would only draw if I intended to shoot. In the defense class I had, the instructor was very clear - if someone is that close (ie. to threaten you with a knife) - then your move is to draw and empty the mag into them. Your life is in mortal danger - a single swipe with that knife could open a vein or artery and you could bleed out.
We practiced that drill with a target literally at arms length. It is intimidating the amount of slap-back you get from 15 rounds of 9mm rapid-fired. But that was the nature of the drill, don't hesitate from the shock of the first round or two - you should be able to empty a semi-auto into them before they fall.
Well he was in the car and what a mess to have to clean up.
This person is related to a woman whom I work with at a nursing home. Just a few days before this another employee was attacked by three “youth” in a parking lot. One hit him in the arm with an aluminum bat. He pulled his legally carried XD40 and they ran. He’s got one hell of a bruise. The same week another nursing home in the area of was robbed of drugs at knifepoint. Several fellow employees who formerly thought I was a bit paranoid for carrying are now asking how to get licensed.
Somewhere on a YouTube self-defense video, they had an instructor show just how much damage a knife-wielder could do if you hesitated. They had a CCW guy walk along a trail and the instructor suddenly appeared out of the bushes, about 10 feet away, saying something disarming like "Hey man, wait a moment."
The CCW guy stopped and turned around, asking "What do you want?" and the instructor, taking baby steps, closed in and began slashing him with a red marking pen. Seconds later, her stepped back and asked the CCW guy to check himself out. He found a red slash on each side of his neck where the instructor had made a "X" in the first few seconds of the attack. Cut that way, you'd bleed out in 90 seconds.
I showed that to the wife and told her that no matter how innocent a man or woman looked, if they did the baby-step thingy, draw and commence firing until the gun clicked.
